I can confirm he is very interesting to hang out with. Don’t think he is a big beer drinker as on two separate nights we shared Burbon late into the night. He has vast amount of interest outside of football. We almost never spoke about football and if we did it was because I was interested and brought it up. He sees things from a very different perspective whichI did not always agree with but always thought it was interesting and very well thought out. Both nights lasted til after 3:00 am and both times I went to bed and he stayed up drinking and talking to those younger than me who could still stay awake.

So nice having a head coach that is competent...really hard watching Leach at media days...rambles and rambles

Leach is a national treasure. We should all be thankful to have him in the SEC. Never a dull moment.

OP should initiate a self-ban

Michael Crabtree was the best wr in the country, I wouldn’t call him complimentary, plus that was tech, from bj symons to Harrell, they put up numbers every year starting new quarterbacks, the question was, does that make them good bc they are a system qb or really good

n reality, Leach was probably the smartest person in the room at the SEC media days. Dude has a law degree from Pepperdine, and a brilliant air-raid offensive mind. With an elite QB surrounded by complimentary players, the Pirate could win a NC. Dude went 11-2 with Grahm Harrell and Gardner Minshew.

Honestly, that’s dead on accurate. Frankly, I do t know why A&M or LSU didn’t hire him for way less money than their current coaches.

Absolutely true.

Why did you guys hire sark then instead of leach if he’s that good? You guys probably would have paid less too

True story. When Mike was an OC under Stoops at OU, he was known for scripting much of the first quarter of offensive plays for Heupel.

Before the OU texsa game he had worked out a situation with one of the OU team equipment managers to have a document "accidently left on the field" that looked like scripted playes for the first quarter. It is funny to listen to the then texsa defensive guys that were in the booth now laughing that it was the middle of the 2nd quarter before they realized what Leach had done to them. Everything that was on the script looked like similar formations but was total different plays.

Jeez I wonder how hard it would have been to adjust to those 3 yard passes to the running back

I've hung out with Leach in a social setting. It was a fun time. The guy will talk about anything in depth. His personality is exactly what you see on TV. Hell it may even be toned down a little on TV.

We’re all in for Saban. We cant have pirates scarring our cows. It wouldn’t be a good look. Plus he wouldn’t put up with all the BS Texas alumni make coaches deal with. He would have just said f-off and it would have hurt some feelings. Our feelings are important. It takes years to build up a fabricated God complex. Years. He could tear that down in a heartbeat. We can’t have that.

Honestly I don’t know why some of the bigger schools in the SEC don’t give him a legitimate look. He’s actually a damn good coach.

I’ve mentioned this before, he may be quirky and run a pass-oriented offense, but in the way he administers his program and his expectations for his players, he’s an old-school hard-nosed disciplinarian of a fashion that would make The Bear smile.

I know Bammers would never in a million years take a coach with his pedigree but if they went to him when Saban retires I actually would be very concerned.

He absolutely would destroy teams with Bama’s footprint. He’s aggressive. He doesn’t take crap off anyone. And he’s got one of the best football minds in the game. He is young and he gets total buy in from players.

Bama would be very scary with him at the helm.

It would never happen though. They wouldn’t give him the chance unless he wins a natty where he is.

But Bama could do far worse when the big man hangs it up.
