We have coaches who leave programs during the season and fans who want other coaches hired from other programs to their own..
Don't see any of them talking about how selfish they are.

Down shallow, I get why a college football player who comes from minimal means, while Coach Leach has the means of financial independence for life, would see incremental gain for meaningless bowl game lesser than a life changing NFL payday.

His point was the player is being selfish. He is 100% correct in that assessment. Doesn’t matter whether it is for millions of dollars or for just piece of mind: by definition when you are putting your own self interests over that of your team/teammates, not to mention the fans, then that is what constitutes being selfish.
Take it far enough and you’ll start seeing players sitting out some games during the season once it becomes clear there is nothing “meaningful” (maybe meaningful for the individual player) to play for. Or maybe they will opt out to play in those games during the season which shouldn’t be close rather than risk injury or just to be “rested”. We’ve already seen that in the NBA. LINK It is probably the wave of the future and further erosion of the game experience for the fans. Also, a player doesn’t have to be playing in a bowl game to tear their ACL.

You can polish a turd and say that it isn't a turd but it still is a turd. We can pretend that skipping bowls for financial reasons is a no brainer yes but that is still quitting on the team, school and and the fans. You can polish that turd and say that isn't quitting but just leaving and that is all. Well quitting is quitting no matter how it can be justified. Not everything should be a bout money because that can be earned and spent any day. But experiences and memories last forever. Don't worry a bout the money and enjoy the experience and the game because it will never happen again.
When college football becomes more of a business. It becomes a job and when that happens it becomes less enjoyable and you have less care of everyone and everything around you. It reminds me when I was little when I had no job and no money. I had no worries because I enjoyed the experience and the moment. I wish I could go back to those happier times but those are long gone. Look for the bigger picture because football is very short lived and so these players don't see that and believe if they don't make it in the NFL then they see themselves as a failure. That needs to be changed as money can make a person happy but more than enough will make you miserable. These young adults need to enjoy being young adults.

Kind of like when coaches take new jobs and leave their teams.
The reality is it is a business and like every other business in the world, no one is going to look out for you except yourself.

So do every player on every team believe that? Most are just happy to get a scholarship from a major school that happens to be in those states they live in. Most aren't good enough to go to NFL and so they try to enjoy as much as they can.
Coaching is a job and nothing more. They come and go and no one realistically should expect them to stick around for a long period of time.

And this is why I'm losing interest in college football. It's no longer as fun to watch because a lot of these guys don't have any ties to the state or loyalty to the university. Many of them are hired guns who have loyalty only to the man who brought them to the school. And that loyalty only lasts for as long as they need him to get them to the NFL. Once that is assured, they opt out and start getting ready for the draft.

Blame fat Leonard Fournette for starting this trend. Guy stunk against Bama, then quit on his team, and was awarded for it by being a top 5 selection.

Gee Mike, you've never quit on a team/program for your own personal gain?
Bowls mean nothing now since there is a playoff other than extra practice time for upcoming players and visibility.
I used to feel like Mike does, but times have changed for players and coaches alike and I'm not going to trash a kid for taking care of his future unless he's playing for a championship. Kids will show up for that.

Disagree. Nothing wrong with a player sitting out of bowl that's not part of the CFP.

How does that make any difference? If thats their situation then they should enjoy it and be happy. And I promise you the team supports the other players that have a future.
Notice its a coach complaining and not a teammate.
It's a dumb double standard that needs to go. For talented players, it is a job too. Its delusional thinking to think otherwise.
