Relax. His family isn’t reading this thread.

It's just more of the d-baggery that goes on, on this site, where these losers want people to think that they are connected.

Same shite goes on every coaching search too.

This. I encourage everyone to do what I do and go to a doctor at least once a year and get a basic checkup. Get blood drawn and have it sent to the lab and analyzed even if you feel perfectly healthy. There are signs in your blood that can point to potential problems before uou experience any symptoms. You could have high cholesterol and not know it, but finding out early before it does permanent damage will save your life as you can start medication and make dietary changes

I would add that a simple added panel to your annual physical can find the hidden heart issue but insurance does not pay for it. Talk to your doctor as I can not remember the added test (they are drawing the blood already) but if it costs you 5 or 10 bucks a year, well worth it.

Most CBC/lipid/metabolic panels are covered by insurance. Are you thinking about troponin levels?

That is the problem, I can not remember. Just remember I had it added about 5 years ago. Just check with your doc and ask for the panel that determines heart when lungs appear to be the issue.

So my understanding is that Coach Leach is on life support and unless he gets a miracle his wife will have a tough decision to make. It hurts all of us, especially Miss State fans but we realize everyone loved the guy. Bad day, been up all night. Thx for all the best wishes and support.

Not true Had a dear friend had a massive heart attack (cause was blockage, not damage to heart muscle) and they brought them back after about 45 mins. Apparently they drew the luck card in a city with a top heart shop in a region. Apparently the big issue was a new thing to cool the dead body.

In the case of your friend how long was he down before treatment was initiated? By that I mean CPR. The studies involving the cooling process that I’ve read have very specific criteria. Typically they involve patients with a time from arrest to initial treatment of < 15 minutes and only certain arrhythmias like persistent v fib.

That’s not saying people don’t recover after being in cardiac arrest for 45 minutes or longer. They most certainly do but not without ongoing treatment involving some type of artificial circulation during that period time,

What RescueT is saying is absent miraculous divine intervention is you aren’t recovering from being in untreated cardiac arrest for 30 minutes and he’s right.

Yeah troponin t. There are other things to look at as well that can be early warning signs. Crp, for instance.

I work in cardiac healthcare and second this. I’ve seen it save lives, my grandfather included.

Not sure, just know it is not included with annual physical panels for insurance. Just know it lets the doc tell if it is lung or hidden heart.

I am not a doc, just an old guy with "life" experience.

If it was truly cardiac arrest, only 1 in 10 people survive without an ICD. The fact that we haven’t heard an update like “critical but stable” condition is very concerning. As long as there’s life and a God in Heaven, there’s always a chance for miracles. Praying for the best.

Hear you, brother!

I have thyroid disease, so I get checked at LEAST twice a year, if not three or four. I know what the different things indicate and what's bad and what's not. My wife is a medical professional and I've learned a bunch from just having her around. Definitely right that you need to advocate for yourself and ask for these things while you're getting a draw done. Check it all, even if just for the giggles.

Sure, a little. That's what happens when people pile on and shite on someone's honest non-troll observation, then 3 weeks later it turns out to be true. There's a little bit of I told you so that is due. Human nature.

If you can make a situation like this about yourself, in any way, even just a little, then you need to reevaluate yourself as a person. No, it's not human nature. Unless you're a sociopath or something.

Along with the good blood work advice given here, I’m 45 and I have recently started working out with a group of guys every morning. But we do it through Facebook live - the instructor who is an ex military takes us through military PT basically. But we have accountability we make sure everyone keeps going. And we also try to keep our calories between 1500 to 1700 a day and make sure they’re good calories. Not that everyone has to do what I’m doing, but I tell you I’ve never felt better.

They were alert when started (bowels evacuated and heavy sweating) and another was in room and called 911. As others have said, time is of the essence and EMT was already in route which added valuable time. My understanding is they died en route (said the worst part of recovery was the broken ribs). At arrival they were dead but cooled down somehow for like 1/2 hour before restarted in surgery.

I was not in the hospital and did not see them until recovery (and they have no memory of course) but the 'cooling" thing gave added time and prevented brain damage.

I know. I tossed and turned all night long praying for him, his wife and family.
Breaks my heart.
Also prayers for our coaches, staff and players. I know this is devastating to them.

COACH MIKE LEACH: My heart hurts for the Mississippi State community and all fans. I pray for the best outcome for Coach Mike Leach.
We are keeping our focus on updates on his health. I just spoke with UMMC. Right now (10 a.m.), Coach Leach is in critical condition.
