If you dump Vanderbilt, everything conference related is now subject to FOIA. Private vs. Public, remember?

This matters why?

You make a stellar point, but start your own thread.
A&M isn't the focus of this one.

While I disagree with dumping the Mississippi schools, I do think that if UCF and USF were added to the SEC they would become immediate contenders. Both are very attractive programs and good schools that are on the rise... All they need is a conference.

I wonder whether or not any of you would be in favor of bringing back Sewanee, Georgia Tech, and Tulane?

I wouldn't have minded Georgia Tech back (and mentioned as much during expansion).

But trading anyone in the SEC for South Florida and Central Florida is laughable at best.

You really have to ask this?

If a private school is part of a conference, that conference's correspondences are shielded from outside observance and exempt from FOIA.

Why do you think Northwestern gets to stay in the Big Ten?

OM and State are consistently in the post season in baseball. State played for it all a year ago.

OM has been to the dance more recently than anyone in the SEC with the exception of Tennessee, UK, and Florida. State has a Final Four.

Without looking it up, I'm pretty sure State has won more bowl games than USF and UCF have played in. That's saying something.

This discussion is a waste of time.

Answer the question.

Why does it matter to you?

The B1G also has Johns Hopkins.

UCF and USF are worse in every category, including academics.
Worse than the Mississippi schools? Not sure about that.

But, yeah, citing Bianchi should be a bannable offense.

Anyone know what Ole Miss brings? Other than 1950's social views.

Ole Miss and State aren't bad universities. The only reason they get shite is because of their low admission standards. There's a reason a huge chunk of freshmen and sophomores flunk out at Ole Miss.

The same thing as Arkansas except we have a tv market.

I'm not discounting your premise; but this quote, in particular, applies to all universities.
It has much more to do with immaturity, freedom, and hooch, than with robust academic standards.

Mike Bianchi is pitiful. But anyway, bringing in UCF and USF would be a kick in the balls to the southern tradition and way of life in the SEC. Both schools are filled with the second and third generation yankee transplants, and would bring no commonality to the league. There is no distinguishing identity there, just two schools that have prospered only because of urban sprawl. However, I do think they fit their current league identity appropriately. That's not a knock to them.
