They said the quickest way to expand the field is to leave the SEC out. They pretty much said that if the SEC is left out, ESPN would push for the field to go to 8. Does the SEC really have that much influence and power?

Well, it would be in the best interest of ESPN for someone from the SEC to be represented in the CFP.

This, along with the nuclear meltdown this board would go through as a whole, are the reasons I was UF to win Saturday.

This place could use a good purge and the chaos in wake of the SEC being left out would be a good start.

Well, two SEC teams in the championship seemed to be the onus for moving to a four-team playoff, so I would say that no, they are not correct. It was probably Greenberg that said that. He's a fricking moron.

Depending on how this weekend goes, I think this year is, at the least, at good argument for six teams... I would personally prefer eight.

You may argue eight teams do not deserve a shot, but I say screw that. Those would be some awesome matchups, and if one team was not worthy, they should get exposed.

Purge? You realize that would be the fastest way to get hundreds of trolls from other conferences signing up, right?

just expand to 6, and have 1 and 2 get a first round bye...take all five conference champions plus 1

I don't think the SEC, ESPN, or anyone else would be that vocal about the issue if Florida beats Bama and the SEC was left out. No SEC team would be deserving at that point.

They would promptly get banned along with a slew of shitty posters from SEC schools, mostly from LSU.

It would make this board better, once the dust settles.

ETA: The poster above is a perfect example.

Expand to 8 with all the conference champs and 3 at large bids.

Me either, but if Ole Miss had won the west and no SEC team had a chance to get in it would be interesting.

You are insuring that ND gets in every year as long as they don't have more than 2 losses.

The problem with that is the AAC, MWC and others will start crying about their champion not getting in.

ND is always going to be in the discussion as long as they win. It's time for people to get over that.

6 or 8 teams ensures they don't get in over a team that won a conference championship.

Eight is the right number.

Get the B12 to add a conference championship game.

Automatic bids to each of the P5 conference champs and 3 at-large.

As a fan of good football games, I would love that. Someone earlier posted ND would get in every year === not if they got exposed in the first round two years in a row.

Which has happened twice in the last 20 years.

Now that they have dropped the Michigan State and Michigan games and have the ACC 5 game rotation where they never play Clemson, FSU or Miami in the same year, they can win 10 games a year easily.
