Alabama is rolling under Saban, but if the team is sitting around right now blabbering stuff like

"We gonna beat Michigan by 10+ easily"

or

"Arkansas has NO chance of beating us"

they could be in for a long year.

Of course Saban would never tolerate that crap so they probably go undefeated and win it all this year.............

BTHog, if the delusion of the fans were allowed to affect the team, we would be overconfident every year and lose 4 games we should have won.

Well you're two for the last two threads I've seen today. And in neither one did you address the OP, just take some statement made by an Alabama fan and attempt to completely hijack the thread.

Just check your own post history. I perused it earlier. You talk a lot more about Bama than about Auburn. It's kind of strange.

What message board fanatics think and say ain't what coaches and players think and say - you should know that.

I'm sorry if you can't see the difference in what Nick Saban took over at Alabama in 2007 and what Les Miles took over at LSU in 2005. Not even in the same solar system. That's not to say Les Miles didn't earn what he won in 2007, but Mike Shula sure as hell didn't make an impact on the 2009 team.

What's a delfection? I assume you mean deflection. What am I deflecting? You weren't talking to me at all in this thread. Do you know what that word means?

I believe you are the one digging up stats from 13 years ago just to try and prove Bama's not as good.

Are you serious? You were all over that thread posting 1999 stats to prove Shaun Alexander (an Alabama player) wasn't as good. Do you really need a link? How do you not remember this? Do you have Alzheimer's?

Context: Miles won his National Title in his 3rd year.

Only 2 loss Nat'l Champion ever, but I digress.
Key players consisted of:
M. Flynn SR
J. Hester SR
D. Byrd JR
T. Jackson JR
E. Doucett SR
G. Dorsey SR
9 starters on D were JR or SR. The team was led by players recruited by Saban. Miles still had to coach them and he did a good job of doing so. They were undefeated in regulation that year.

quote:

Yet in 2009 (Saban's 3rd year) he went undefeated with a National Title.

The team had 6 starters on O and 5 starters on D recruited by Saban. The true KEY players were virtually ALL Saban recruits save a couple of exceptions (Arenas on D and McElroy on O)
Key players:
J Jones SO
M Ingram SO
M Maze SO
C Peek SR (transfer recruited by Saban)
J Carpenter JR (JUCO recruited by Saban)
M Dareus SO
M Barron SO
R McClain JR
K Jackson JR

It really isn't an argument that proves the point you were trying to make.
