Meyer is a great coach but let's not act like he didn't step into some very good situations at both Florida and Ohio State. There was talent galore on those two rosters. At least at OSU he hasn't had competition within conference which is the way he likes it. That may change soon, however.

Saban had to rebuild two programs with limited talent. LSU probably had more talent in '00 than Alabama did in '07 because DiNardo could recruit. Either way....LSU hadn't really done anything since the mid-80s and Saban was able to turn them into a national power.

Alabama, going into the 2007 season, had gone 67-55 overall since 1997. After 10 years of mediocrity there were very few in the sports world who believed Alabama would ever be as great as it had been during the Bryant era. Saban changed all of that.

Ohio State was a year removed from a 12-1 season and a Top 5 finish when Meyer took over in 2012.

Saban is going to stay long enough to tack on 1-2 more so Urbs can't catch him.

One coach is second all time in national championships, the other fled the sec by faking medical conditions to avoid playing the other. Coach b will forever coach a's bitch

When Meyer was at UF he had twice as many loses to teams in the west than east. He lost to every team in the west except Arky. Struggled with LSU,lost multiple times to Auburn, multiple times to Bama, lost to Ole Miss and Missippi ST. The refs screwed Arky out of a win and had to apologize.

He dominated UGA, UT, USCe. Vandy and UK. What Urban did is not close to what Saban is currently doing.

Meyer has been paying attention to Saban’s recent work; specifically, the successful onside kick call in this month’s national title game and the Crimson Tide’s hiring of offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin.

That onside kick was ballsy and alpha as frick. Reminded me of Payton's call in the SB wrt risk/reward.

Coach b is .500 against Les Miles and had Tim Tebow for 4 of their 6 meetings. He was also 0-2 against Tubs who Auburn fired out of reactionary fear.

Saban would win the BIG every single year now.

I mean, it's been what, a little over a year?

It's almost like the Sugar Bowl last year didn't happen at all

OSU has to be perfect

In their title year, they lost to a mediocre VT team that finished 7-6. So your premise needs some tweaking.

Pretty sure coach a and coach b have a .500 record against each other and coach a has lost 2 in a row to Hugh Freeze.

I mean was this thread started to make it seem that Meyer was not giving Saban enough credit?

Meyer grew up idolizing Woody Hayes, so he will never say someone was better than him. Meyer believes Hayes changed the lives of young men more than any other coach in cfb history.

I was assuming he'd switch places with Meyer in this situation. If they were both in the same league, they'd obviously take turns beating each other.

Of all the things Meyer admires in a coach, changing kids' lives has to be close to the bottom.

Agree, but having Tim Tebow at one school and 3 NFL QBs on one roster at another helps a ton.

That's not to say he didn't earn it, he absolutely did. He's a fantastic coach, and extremely young with three titles. Wouldn't surprise me if he doesn't end up with more titles than Saban just based off where he is now and his age. That's assuming he doesn't go to the NFL or something.

You think Ohio State had three NFL caliber QBs last season?

Can anyone really argue that Meyer left the SEC because he knew he couldn't consistently beat Saban? That has to count for something.

Yeah, I can argue that. Meyer quit Florida because he had significant health problems. He wasn't running from Saban or the SEC anymore than Saban was running away from those big bad NFL coaches.

Guys like Saban and Meyer are competitors. They're not running from competition. What's the matter with you?

Just because he doesn't practice is doesn't mean he doesn't admire it. Those are 2 different things completely

Before Meyer is done he will be the GOAT. Saban has benefited greatly from a very bad east during his run and the SECW wasn't always top heavy and OM, MSU were average at best. When UF and the east comes back Bamas reign will falter. The west has only been great the last 3 years.

Saban is a lot like Bear, in that he adapts to the changing of the game and doesn't get stuck trying to do the same thing and expecting results to remain the same. Except for man coverage against running QB's.. lol
