quote:
No it doesn't. Not in the way you are insinuating. You are taking scripture out of context. I am familiar with the passage you are referring to (I think) and you are taking it way out of context.
Jesus time and again condemned the religious leaders because they were teaching "their own traditions rather than Gods." They were giving the people bits and pieces of the Mosiac Law and then they would water it down with their own traditions of choice. They hated him for the public corrections they got and eventually killed him because of it.
quote:
I don't care what you address going forward. I was merely curious if Christianity had some special focus from you for some reason. It appears as if it does.
That's because you just haven't caught on yet. I'm not anti-God, I'm anti-religion. Just like Jesus.
quote:
Really> How were people killed in the first and second world war in the name of Christianity? And don't even try to pass of Hitler as being Christian.
The dude certainly professed it and that's all we are talking about with professed Christians today. He was a Catholic in good standings and he would have never pulled off the second World War without the blessings of the Catholic Church. In fact, history strongly suggests that war would pretty much be impossible down through man's existence without first commanding the moral high ground. Politicians and religious leaders have always known that recipe. That takes GOD. Any god.
quote:
That passage isn't talking about what people think of themselves or what others think of Christians. it is talking about how we should help others, minister to others, witness to others.
A person's Christian ministry is part of their "fruits."
quote:
Are you saying you are a believer? You have already said you are not when you called Christianity "Mythology", so I am only taking you at your word.
Christmas is 'mythology." Not Biblical, not Christian, Pagan actually. Christianity that is poorly executed is why Christmas exists.

Why do you feel compelled to try to ridicule and make fun of others beliefs?
Sure, I'll answer most anything.
How/ where did I ridicule anyone's beliefs? Simply stated what I think, but didn't claim anyone was stupid for not agreeing. If that's how it was interpreted, my apologies.
My premise is mankind as a whole got it wrong, not just Christians. Having spent several decades believing and several more searching, all I know is I don't know the answers.
Merry Christmas

This is the kind of thing that will ensure Christianity will probably be irrelevant as a global religion within 100 years and why I left it nearly two decades ago. Thank you for the reminder.
Voltaire would advise against such predictions.
What did you do to become a Christian before you left?

Will this obviously shiny hook catch that many atheists?
If by shiny hook you mean the gospel, and by catch atheist you mean bring them to the knowledge of our Lord and savior Jesus Christ. Then yes I pray it does.
Did you know some of the apostles were actually fishermen? You can’t make this up lol

The only thing that is saved when the truth dies is the lie.

You need to go read some history before posting on any of these topics again. Please let me know if you need book recommendations.

Not sure what you're getting at. Who's higher up the chain? The Pope? God?

Ah yes, the RINO defense.

As you indicated earlier in the thread, it's astonishing how little most Christians know about the Bible.
Posted on 12/25/21 at 3:22 pm to Notrub14
I am getting at the fact that Raymond Brown is someone liberals like to quote - WHO - being a man - is just as subject to error as any other man. His opinion is no better than many of his contemporaries who denounced many of his views. I, frankly, am not trying to change your opinion about God and the Birth of His Son = but to cling to a liberal catholic scholar who denies the inspiration of the scripture as your authority for rejecting the scripture - is, rather, well, WEAK

And just so you understand - I don't care what a single catholic priest has to say about the Bible, whether true or not, when he bows and kissing the ring of a MAN who has covered up pedophilia in the church while claiming to speak 'ex cathedra'
Posted on 12/25/21 at 3:25 pm to Pastor Mike
This as your starting point, rather than the passive aggressive “go higher up the chain” response as though you are the authority, would have been the better approach.
Posted on 12/25/21 at 3:27 pm to AgsNguyening
Why would it have been the better approach? You are clearly convinced in your mind that you are right and others are wrong - which is the very thing you claim to hate about those from the other view. Sometimes a little sarcasm is a relief-valve for what I could say and choose not to
Posted on 12/25/21 at 3:29 pm to Pastor Mike
I explained why.
Also, I’m not so dogmatic as to think I am right on almost anything.

The power of groupthink is remarkable and quite scary. It's got all of these people believing in the invisible boogie man in the sky.
