No one knows when Jesus was born. He never asks his followers to acknowledge it, not once. If he had, he would have given the exact day. How do we know that?

He wanted everyone to acknowledge the meaning of his death. He gave the folks the exact day of his human demise. (Friday, Nisan 14, 33 AD) He commanded his followers to celebrate it exactly as he set the pattern himself on Passover night when he instituted the memorial of his death. (passing of the emblems)

The moral of the story: Professed Christians sure have a hard time following simple instructions.

Ho, Ho, No.

Not at all. He never said NOT to celebrate his birth. We celebrate His birth to honor Him.

Honest question, because I have always been curious as to why atheists fight so hard against Christ and Christianity. Do you fight hard against everything else you consider to be a myth? Do you take umbrage and fight against children who believe in Santa Clause? Do you correct those children thinking it your civic duty to straighten them out? How about their parents who try to keep Christmas alive? Do you lecture them on the reality of there not being a Santa Clause and therefore dislike that they allow their children to believe?

Or is it just Christians who irritate you? Why do you feel compelled to destroy what someone else believes, instead of just skipping over this thread?

There are tons of things that people believe that are not true. Do you think of them as simpletons to be lectured and corrected?

"Grown men who believe in fairy tales are truly something else."

You calling it a fairy tale based on what others have convinced you is real/true shows how much faith you have.

Jesus was a brown man who you all today would call a socialist. He loved poor people.

Luke 2:1-2. Historical record of the times as to the Roman ruler and governor of Syrian province. The type of references you find in the Bible that can be/ have been searched in extra-Biblical records and found to be historically accurate.

Dude, relax. Not everyone is a Christian and that’s okay.

Yeah, when prophecy is written hundreds of years in advance before it happens (easily proven with the Septuagint translation written before Jesus was born) people with an open mind takes notice and put some weight in it. There will be no excuses when you meet him, and you will. In the meantime, Merry Christmas!

Everyone knows that but the most important thing is the good news.

Not really. Here is how one person put it:

In 2 Thes 3:10 Paul said, “If a man will not work he shall not eat.” His use of the word “will” implies the opportunity for work exists. If it didn’t he would have said, “If a man can not work …”

He was brown and He loved the poor, but he certainly was no socialist. He never advocated that the government take money away from one man to give to another. He advocated that we willingly do this to help those less fortunate...meaning widows, orphans and those unable to work. Not those unwilling to work.

Jesus was a man of middle eastern descent with olive skin. He is beyond human politics. He loved all people rich or poor. But the wealthy are much harder to reach.

I mean, I just wanted it to be accurate. Many people (not saying you) say things about Christianity that they don't fully understand because it is something they heard.

Isaiah 7:14 & Micah 5:2 are a couple of Jewish writings (at least 400 years before the Christ’s birth) that accurately prophesy that which was to come. Prophecy is one unique “witness” to the unbeliever. Prophecies are found throughout the Bible. Many have occurred and display witness to their accuracy; many have not yet occurred but, the “track record” reveals that they will. We find no prophecy in the man-made religions. The birth of Christ which is what we celebrate today is one event definitively and in detail prophesied

If that is the case then belief in man made governments is fairly tale. Why can't they do the simplest tasks for the populations?

He set the pattern.

I've always wondered why professed Christians work so hard at going beyond what is written.

Like this argument?

Now when you say "Christian" do you still mean people who are really "like Christ." If so, then simply do what you are told by the boss. Follow the directions, period. As you can see, your biased argument really isn't with me at all.

I love that in the absence of fact they all invoke faith. My kid has faith in Santa Claus, who is just as real as Jesus.
