That being said, Merry Christmas to everyone! Remember the reason for the Season!

No one knows when Jesus was born. He never asks his followers to acknowledge it, not once. If he had, he would have given the exact day. How do we know that?

He wanted everyone to acknowledge the meaning of his death. He gave the folks the exact day of his human demise. (Friday, Nisan 14, 33 AD) He commanded his followers to celebrate it exactly as he set the pattern himself on Passover night when he instituted the memorial of his death. (passing of the emblems)

The moral of the story: Professed Christians sure have a hard time following simple instructions.

Ho, Ho, No.

Sucks for him that God made the rules like that. God loves him some blood

Odd that people go with this take. Doesn't sound remotely accurate. It's more like there is an often bloody nature to a mostly chaotic existence, against which we steel ourselves with a degree of order derived from personal sacrifice for others that we may become greater individuals and by extension a people than that chaos. This sacrifice is exemplified best by Christ's greatest of voluntary sacrifice for us. Not that "gOD lEts PuPpIEs dIe!"

Actually the Essenes prophesied when the Savior was to be born. They used the original calendar also, not the corrupted version the Jewish leaders was using. This was found in the Dead Sea Scrolls.

So far, we really haven't gotten past your personal opinion.

That's not my personal opinion, it's a fact found in the Dead Sea Scrolls, but take it however you want.

It's a fact because it was written? People decided it was fact because they wanted it to be true.

For some reason, I always thought the Christian appropriation of Christmas was about Jesus birth and Easter was the whole death/resurrection thing, but don't let that cloud the religious frothing.

Merry Christmas... the celebrated human sacrifice thing came later.

Just not on December 25th. I love a good story as much as anyone but there is enough mythology associated with that date to fill up a library.

Great work busting the myth that Jesus didn't die on Christmas.

I'm Jewish and I know more than you on the subject.

Are you? And the rest of your quote seems to be a lot more about mythology again.

The rest of my quote? Are you drunk this early on Christmas? Pace yourself.

And if you were able to read my quote in its entirety, instead of being just critical, you should know by now that a distinction was made concerning both Jesus' birth and death according to man-made traditions and Biblical support.

Still not sure what you, being a Jew, has to do with your intellect on the subject though?

While we know he was likely born in the early Fall, probably September, there is nothing wrong with remembering Him on a different date. In fact, we should remember Him every day
