It's not unfathomable for a guidance counselor to actually care about people, and want them to succeed.
You are correct Slippery there are many that do care.
So care so much about the success of students that they actually guide them early on in the process.
If the guidance counselor cared so much about the JR's grades and his ability to make a high enough GPA then she should have helped the kid the right way. Maybe even provide additional study time or tutoring sessions.
Instead she tried to cheat the system and in the end she has derailed the kid.

My MS public school district had a 95-100 A, and 70-74 D. Since I seemed to end up with 92s in everything, my GPA was not happy.

I agree. But compliance at Auburn should have been concerned when he qualified. Other schools had stopped recruiting Robinson because of grades. Why would have Auburn waited for the NCAA to get involved before looking into it?
Because they got two different transcripts. He barely made it using the first one. Are they supposed to go question everyone in his school system about the transcript they were sent?

I had no idea our grade system was that much different than Alabama's. And we get talked shite about our schools? Our dumbfricks are twice as smart as Alabama's dumbfricks. No wonder everyone wants to move their kids to Alabama. They will graduate any dumbass that shows up.

Well, this happend in May, correct? And knowing know what we know we know he was just barely inelligible...so while some may have backed off, it's not as though it was a forgone conclusion in october that he wouldn't qualify. You'd agree that it was very close, right?

Bottom line: The kid couldn't make a passing grade in the Memphis city school system. Awful.
I bet most of you would shite yourself if your grading system and course work were anything like our's was. Memphis has shitty teachers though. They just rejoined Shelby county schools do the increase in shared revenue should assist in improving faculty.
quote:
For Memphis and Shelby county schools our grade system was as follows. The C had more wiggle room. I went to Collierville, which was Shelby County. The school has since made the top 100.
A =100-94
B = 93-87
C= 86-76
D= 75-69
F= less than a 69

if you read the article you would see where Auburn notified the school first.
And they still Allowed Robinson to practice with the team as if there was not a problem?

So he enrolled and started practicing. When did AU notify the school of the transcript?

They allowed JR to practice up until they were told by the NCAA that he couldnt.
we get it...Au is dirty to you and we dodged a bullet.

I don't think there's going to be an issue with the way AU's compliance folks have handled the situation. It looks like they've done everything exactly right.
If AU ends up with a problem, it's going to be on the ground in Memphis.

I've got two in private school right now.
100-95 = A
94-85 = B
84-75 = C
74-70 = D
under 70 = F

Au went ahead and vacated all the practices that JR was involved in.

if you read the article...the teacher said about a month after he changed the grade back to a 70. so around mid June. the teacher was questioned on June 20th.

I don't know how close it was, but I would not doubt it was pretty close. Seeing that the grade change was just 6 points.

So since it was so close, other schools backing off isn't some huge red flag and somehow we made something happen that was otherwise unobtainable.
