Are you also saying the extreme sanctions for the mild Alabama textbook scandal were simply repercussions for the many years that Bear Bryant was cheating and they couldn't ever catch him?

I'd say that pretty much clears Auburn. You don't arrange for a grade to be changed then call the principle asking about the

Not so fast.............

The end of school transcript on May 4 with the 70 already had grades changed on it by the counselor who retired at the end of spring school year...different GC than the one who resigned in August.

That particular transcript:
-already had two grade changes
-had the 7o on it
-was available only on or after May4....
That set of grades had to have been quickly evaluated by someone who would have known that it would NOT pass the NCAA academic requirements.

The time window was very small to get the changes made from 70 to 76 and the altered transcript submitted to AU. Obviously the 70 transcript was not good enough to be eligible, hence the required last minute EXTRA change to 76 wound up on the NCAA radar.

Best case for AU is Jovon mama got the changes made and had the altered transcript sent to AU. If so, she was likely walked through the process by someone in the know about NCAA eligibility.

Actually, I think the NCAA knew about the first grade changes because a mere six points should have allowed Jovon to get the special exemption and red shirt. But that route to eligibility was not available, apparently the changes were to severe.

AGAIN, someone realized that the 70 transcript would not pass NCAA clearinghouse. So between May 4 and May 17, the new transcript with the 76 was created and this new altered one got sent to AU which AU sent to NCAA to get JOVON eligible. No denying this part happened.

You say, "But AU compliance asked about the change." Maybe so, but also maybe an arse covering move since NCAA has been working with MissSt about a memphis issue for a couple months...and the sinister theories only go downhill from here.

If the NCAA had not been looking around Memphis and making waves, the grade change and subsequent rechange may have never come to light of day.

Records of what transcript versions were sent and when they were sent carries awfully strong culpability of someone seeking the changes made between May 4 and when the grade was rechanged on May 17.

Neither of the GC's are talking. I'm guessing AU don't have any PI's looking into why they are mum.
