I really appreciate the sentiment. But Memorial Day has nothing to do with me.
It is to Honor our Fallen Dead, those who made the ultimate sacrifice for the cause of Freedom.
Honor them. They deserve it, way more than those of us who survived.

I get to give remarks in a few hours at one of our veteran homes.
I haven't gotten through it yet, without tearing up. I'm going to be a mess, but remembrance is important.
However, you choose to honor our fallen. I'd remind you that at 3 pm local time is the national moment of remembrance to pause for a moment of reflection and remember those we've lost in service. And yes... enjoy some food and libations in their honor.
