Thank you Auburn Family for all the love and support! Doctors said I dislocated my ankle, fractured my tibia, and will need surgery for some torn ligaments. Not to worry, I’ll be back in 4-6 months. War Eagle everybody

Hope he makes a good recovery and it really only is that long. Looked awful.

I feel like for how gruesome that looked, that's probably about the best case scenario. This is something he can come back from to 100%.
I can't wait for next year now. If today was any indication, its going to be very frustrating for us down low without McLemore.
But next years front court should be very strong for jam and and deep as well.
We won't just get back McLemore who's the leading blocker in the SEC, but we'll also get back Austin Wiley who dominated the paint as a 17 yr old in the SEC and dominated for Team USA u19 in international play, get back Danjel Purifoy who is an NBA prospect, Chuma Okeke who was Mr Basketball in Georgia over Collin Sexton will get a full off-season in our strength and consitioning program and look at the jump all the guys the Heron and Harper made from last year to year 2, Horace Spencer will be a Senior, DeSean Murray will be back with SEC experience, and we'll be bringing in either a 4* 6'9" freshmen PF (if he can reclassify from '19 to '18) or a grad transfer big man.

He's already been cleared for next year, dumbass

Looked really bad. We will struggle without him. Basically now down 3 of our better players and a 4th that is at best 70%.

Wiley is still projected as a first rounder. You can’t pass that opportunity up.

He was projected to be picked near the end of the 1st round before the season. Things change, players break out. Since a lot of those projections came out, he had an injury over the summer with Team USA adding to his rep of being injury prone, the whole FBI scandal broke and he's having to sit out an entire year. Add in his weaknesses on offense that his little bit of tape from last year shows, and the fact that he doesn't really fit the mold of what NBA teams are currently trending towards... It would be smart of him to come back.
Yeah he could probably still get drafter at least in the 2nd round, but that's after sitting out a whole year and only having a couple months of tape as an awkward 17 yr old.
Come back next season. Show how you can dominate on defense and in the paint, show you've improved on offense and shooting, stay healthy and show the injuries were flukes.
Staying for another year could easily make him a a lot more money in the long run.

frick. Just came to check score and then saw this too. Shitty end to my night.

True. Wishful thinking by me I guess, but the last mock draft I checked two weeks ago Wiley was still projected to go 27th overall

He's solidly borderline for leaving or not. Remember, basketball only has 2 rounds, so back end of 1st round is kinda like being a 3rd rounder in NFL draft. He could come back and be a potential lottery pick with a big year while risking injury or go and get started. It's a tough choice.

Very sorry that y'all lost him today. He's a helluva player and a helluva sportsman.
I felt for him today when I heard him scream and saw his injury.
Some years ago I suffered a similar injury ... shattered ankle, broken fib and tib plus a broken femur and fractured hip. Almost thirty years ago and ortho surgery was not nearly as good then as it is now, nor was I as young then as he is now.
I just had the four pins removed from my fib and tib last March but they left the three in my ankle, the two in my femur and the two in my hip. I'm TSA prequal and still set the modern machines off in the airports.
He'll recover fine - rehab is gonna be a bitch. Even after the bones heals he'll have a helluva time getting-over the severely sprained ankle he doesn't even realize he has yet. But I am sure wishing him a speedy recovery ... the kid is pure class.

He was really the one guy we couldn't afford to lose. This team still has elite guards but I think the loss will be too much to overcome.
