That's why I preempted that statement with "it's almost certain" and didn't pass it off as absolute fact.

Probably.

This the only dumb take I see. King is the odds on favorite to start next year. He’s better than Max. It’s probably not even close.

quote:

Max has a decent body of work over two seasons at LSU and could vault himself into the NFL with a decent year at A&M which gives the team to your 5 star in 2023.

Maybe. But he picked a place that is just as bad, probably worse, to start than his current spot. I think it has more to do with his gf being an Aggie and his daddy liking/trusting Jimbo.

Jimbo is certainly a man you can trust to go 8-4. I understand why Brad wants his boy there.

So attempt to think logically for a moment, why would Max prefer to go sit on the bench as opposed to going somewhere where he can start and make a case to be an NFL quarterback?

Technically, he hasn't announced his decision yet.

You think his dad likes and trusts Jimbo so much that he'd rather Max be a backup for Jimbo than a starter anywhere else?

The delusion.

He’s going to get a chance to compete and I’m sure he’s confident in his ability to win the job. Do you actually think he was guaranteed a starting job and we are pushing a redshirt freshman QB currently taking first team reps to transfer? Lol

Just because he is not white, doesn't mean he is a running QB. Did you see mond try to scramble?

Get outta here trying to act like he couldn't run the ball.

He ran for 1,608 yards and 22 TDs on 438 carries while at A&M.

Meanwhile Max Johnson in 2 years has run for just 78 yards and 3 TDs on 132 carries.

Calzada this year finished with.... -9 and a single TD on 35 carries. If you add his 5 carries his red shirt freshman year it's still right at -9 yards.

Was Mond able to run like Johnny Football or Cam Newton? No. Few can. But to act like he wasn't a more of a threat to run than the average QB is flat out false.

Also, you can frick off trying to bring race into it you jackass.

I doubt he legitimately was guaranteed the starting job, no decent coach ever does that.

I'm sure he was given very strong reasons to believe he'd win the starting job though, which is quite possible.

He is significantly more experienced than King.

No doubt. I’m sure there will be a legitimate competition, and maybe Max wins it. King has high upside but is certainly flawed. I’m guessing Max wants one more shot to start on a big college football stage and if he doesn’t win it he is likely at a smaller program a year from now. To say King is getting processed though is hilarious and wrong unless you don’t understand what that means

You're missing the point.

He probably believes he can start. Jimbo is will give him an opportunity. But that is all that it is. He's underestimating or ignorant to how good King & Weigman are.

His dad trusts Jimbo give him a fair shake. If you think he's going to just walk in and have a job handed to him then you're nuts.

The Johnson's aren't going to A&M on a wing and a prayer.

I think a lot of Aggies are overestimating how good King actually is.

You sure?

It looks like they're trying to find a program that fits. Jimbo loves his TEs. He's got a talented stable program on the way up. It's a great fit for Jake. And there is an open competition for Max. Find a better match.

Ole Miss, Georgia, Auburn, maybe Tennessee. That's just in the SEC.

Dad is a Florida State alum, maybe there, maybe Clemson, who knows?

Also, all closer to their home in Georgia.

Then I guess by your logic Max is the 2022 starter. Guess we can revisit when you're wrong.

I didn't say that he'd be the starter, only that he must've been given significant reasons to believe he would be the starter.

He definitely isn't being brought in as a "depth piece" like you stated.

Just like you have no way of knowing if he was promised the starting job.

He played well on senior day, but Calzada showed the same flashes against bama. I see them as interchangeable which is why it makes sense to me that Jimbo would want Max after Calzada entered the portal.

Just want to see LSU baws have to pick a side before he transfers, was Max the guy or did you not want him anymore? Will he have success at his next stop?

Direct quote from Jimbo: "We have two scholarship quarterbacks, we need three"

sounds like depth to me.

Another dumb take.

Max was clearly better than Calzada in 2021.

I don't think Max was a great fit for the system that BK is going to run but he definitely would've been in a competition to be the starter.

I think he can definitely have success as a P5 starter.
