Not sure why this gets you so worked up.
Max sees a chance to come in and compete for the starting role at a team with a tremendous amount of talent and for a coach his family is comfortable with. If he wins the job it's awesome for him. If he doesn't then he can always transfer if he wants. It's likely the best offer he had that was at a team he had a chance to start and had the potential to make the Playoff based on the talent there (insert 8&4! Jimbo sucks! etc.)
All QB situations are now year by year due to the portal more than any other position. It's just the new reality and players and coaches have to adjust to it. A&M is in great shape now with 3 solid options for next year. Max gets a shot to compete and play with his brother. Sounds like a win/win.
