Please. Richt was fired because South Carolina was about to offer their HC position to Kirby.

this might have merit if richt was fired circa 2006.
Richt was fired in 2015, at a time when he was 3-2 in his last 5 against florida.

He was fired because the program had stagnated, it was clear we had reached our ceiling, and a handful of other SEC programs were clearly miles ahead of us on and off the field. It had nothing to do with florida.

I always liked him very nice respectful

I secretly hoped Tennessee would had went after him could have saved us from the disaster of a coaching nightmare we went through.

Richt was a damn good ball coach. Ashame what Jawja did to him. Could have won a natty with him if they would have held on a bit longer

Georgia knew they had Kirby before they fired Richt. I am going to guess the reason Billy is still around is because Florida has yet to get a solid nod from any desired candidate at this point, going back to early last season.

And maybe they won't "get their guy" beforehand and have to roll the dice on an unknown coach, which they seem reluctant to do right now. Their risk is they have a solid roster, for the moment. If they pull the trigger and fire Billy, you can bet a significant count of players hit the portal. Timing is critical in these situations.

Just to be clear, a lot of the reporting in the years after Richt’s departure indicate that the reason UGA pulled the trigger when they did in late 2015 was because the admin and boosters had had their eye on Kirby for some time and knew he was about to take a head coaching job.

He was South Carolina’s top choice and he basically told Georgia you either hire me now or you don’t get me at all ever. Georgia pulled the trigger on Richt and we got stuck with our 37th choice Muschamp. fricking Ray Tanner.

This isn't necessarily true. Season tickets sold out again this year. I agree with the overall sentiment, but the program despite all its warts right now is still making money hand over fist. Maybe part of the problem - no one has really hit SS where it hurts the most.

Uh, we hoisted 3 titles while you were in a 40 yr drought

There are no sure fire HCs out there that are gonna leave their current team

You would think the best run in Georgia history would produce more championships this millennium than Florida would.

Our SECChampionships were in '02 and '05. None after that, we went 11 years without a SECC. CMR's last year was '15.

Kirby went to the BCSNC in his 2nd year and won a couple of Nattys, and 3-4 SEC's in 8 years...

We love CMR but CKS took us to the next level...

Mark Richt didn't want to blatantly cheat to secure players.....Along comes Kirby and every 5 star in the country wants to come to UGA....We all know the game. Give Kirby Kentucky talent and he will provide Kentucky results!

Hope you enjoyed because Kirby will not be able to win like that in the current environment. No one will.

the best run in our history as referenced is only in its 8th year and still going.

UF's best run likely encompassed 18 years from 91-09. Let's at least compare apples to somewhat apples

the bold part is the important part, and you're exactly right. Well no one except maybe an Ohio state that only plays maybe 1 real opponent in their first 13 games. But no SEC team will I agree.

Richt was very consistent, in a good way.

Napier is very consistent, in a bad way.

Don't most Georgia fans like Mark? I mean no doubt Kirby has been an upgrade, but still.

So now we don't fire coaches fast enough? Noted.

Also congrat's for showing Mark Richt the door after 15 years (2001-2015). You guys are sooo demanding.

You watched other SEC schools win 9 national titles over those 15 years including rivals Florida 2 and Auburn 1.

Season tickets sold out, but people very, very clearly are not going to some games. So many
