Are you saying we don't do everything we can to steer these guys in the right direction? Surely you're joking.

Well I think there is something there. You can't blame UGA for not fixing bad kids, but there probably is something to diagnose, even if there isn't a clear solution.

It could be an environment that players don't feel they need to adjust to immediately (discipline after the fact but insufficient pressure to conform on the front end), the areas recruits are coming from, the nature of some elite recruits and being coddled during the process, etc.

is generally dealt with differently than some other schools might. I am not aware of any other school that has a mandatory 2 game suspension for a DUI arrest. If there is, I apologize in advance

Do you know any of the other schools policies on DUI's?

I honestly don't know. I get stuff like DUI's and stuff can happen to most anybody who makes a bad decision. But when you have guys like crowell getting arrested and having a gun with a filed off serial number, you kinda gotta wonder. Of course we did have the gas station incident, but that was 6 years and 3 coaches ago, so hopefully it was just a fluke.

Then go ahead and check the arrests we've had the past 4 years or so. You'll find that the vast majority of them are for alcohol/parking ticket/suspended license type offenses. It's not like these kids are holding up gas stations and kidnapping people.

We kicked him off the team the next morning...oh, and ALL charges were DROPPED...not reduced, DROPPED.

Just want to make sure it doesn't get swept under the rug, like Richt talked about the other guys doing.

Great response. +1 sir.

Even in Crowell's case, the charges were later dropped once it was determined that it was his mother's car and gun and Crowell likely really didn't know it was there. Now, he ended up getting the boot during that incident because he was already toeing the line with weed-related issues (I'd actually venture to say the fact that he was in the car with a bunch of freshmen and the police report said they smelled weed in the car is likely what got him kicked out; just like JHC, you can only tell a guy so many times to knock it off before you've had enough and just tell him to leave).

Also, things like the check scandal...for $70 each...

That was against the UGA Athletic Association. We called the cops on ourselves for that...

I would suggest that there are schools out there that would have simply made them pay it back and handle it internally...

Also, can you tell me how many of the 21 arrests are NOT from turning our guys in, moving violations in a car, or a traffic accident?

The car had nothing to do with his charges.

So his mother had an illegal firearm(Altered serial) concealed in the car?

5 of those no longer on the team.

Thanks for proving Richt's point for him. He said he disciplines, and he does. Can you dispute what he said?

Ya'll sure are getting defensive about this. fact is, UGA has players in trouble a lot more than it seems other teams do. Whether or not this is a policy issue, which is Richt's excuse, or an actual recruiting and discpline issue, which most people seem to think, is up for debate.

I couldn't find anywhere in his comments where he claimed other programs don't discipline. All I read was that he was explaining what his program does.

Unless I missed something, this thread title seems rather disingenuous. I have no problem with what Richt said.

Exactly what I was thinking. Trolls gotta troll.

o big deal. Every program has kids that get ito trouble, and every coach has to discipline the way he sees fit.

Well, six of them got arrested in the first place, is that the UGA discpline policy's fault?

Except for Tennessee. I believe you guys have more arrests than we do this year. Is it a policy issue, recruiting issue or discipline issue?

What do you think Tennessee's problem is this year? Why so may arrests for you guys?

I'll wait for the incoming deflection

It will be something along the lines of over reaching cops at a party.
