Man, we all suck

Bama has gotten so big that it has completely sucked the oxygen out of the conference. After next week, there won't be a single team other than Bama with less than 4 losses or an ability to get to 10 wins...
Florida 8-3 (soon to be 8-4 next weekend barring Bama not getting off the bus)
Tennessee 8-4 (Coach has gone AWOL)
Auburn 8-4 (managed to lose to a bad UGA team in the process)
A&M 8-4 (Aggies continue to do Aggie things, namely not playing defense)
LSU 7-4 (Hired Ed Orgeron to be the heir to Miles throne after getting publicly shot down by Jimbo and Herman)
Kentucky 7-5 (Best 7-5 team in America? Somehow UK is a bright spot for the conference at 5 losses. Good for them)
UGA 7-5 (This team is bad and I feel bad. Not sure which loss is worse either: the blow out to ole miss or the loss to vandy at home)
Arkansas 7-5 (I don't understand why this team is so erratic. So, basically UGA West)
South Carolina 6-6 (A mix between what we'd expected and a pleasant surprise. Cocks going bowling which is cool I guess)
Vandy 6-6 (tied with UK for non-Bama bright spot in the conference. Glad to see the Dores make it to a bowl)
MSU 5-7 (King of the Idiots)
Ole Miss 5-7 (Locked in the dungeon, awaiting execution)
Mizzou 4-8 (Fat, SJW, and stupid is no way to go through life Tigers)
The SEC has officially given up the throne as the best football conference.

Meh. This was the year the sec beat themselves up. It was bound to happen one year.

Yeah, the SEC sucked this year. Bad. Auburn getting a Sugar Bowl bid is undeserving, IMO.

Couldn't agree more and it's been talked about on sports radio lately but we aren't the best conference right now.
A lot of very high paid coaches not getting the job done.

Speak for yourself. LSU was 3 plays from possibly being 11-1. Top 10 possibly or higher recruiting class, I'm done pining over Herman and Jimbo. Orgeron will recruit with the best of them and put LSU in the playoffs very soon.

I agree. This is not a case of a bunch of good teams beating the shite out of one another. There's one great team and some very mediocre teams at the top.

Having a dynasty team in any league is very unhealthy for the long-term viability of that league.
We're starting to see the result of that.
The same thing will soon happen with the same teams making the playoff every year.

It's all about $$$$$ and Bama pays the most

And if UGA had batted down a Hail Mary against Tennessee, and if UGA had converted 4th and 1 against Vandy, and if UGA had made a field goal at the start of Tech game, we could be 10-2 heading into the Sugar Bowl.
But then there's the whole thing that this team didn't actually do any of those things and is, therefore, undeserving of that hypothetical season and hypothetical bowl trip.

Season really sucked. We have had such a good defense all year and our offense has been so very bad all year.
Players at positions they never should have been at and our play calling this year has been the worst I have ever, EVER seen.
Im actually glad its over

I still cannot wrap my mind around Arkansas blowing a 24-7 lead on Friday and losing to the worst team in the league.

Seriously. You and everyone else have to stop saying "but we were only 1 FG and 1 4th down stop and 1 TD conversion away from being 12-0". Stop living in the hypothetical. The reality has been set.

After yet another noon kickoff (part of my disdain for this season comes from the complete lack of time to actually be on and enjoy campus pre game; SEC and McGairty needs to fix the lopsided number of noon kickoffs we get) I would normally leave Sanford to head home to catch the late afternoon and night games, whether UGA won or not. But not yesterday. I'm so completely numb to watching this conference this season. I watched the iron bowl until it got out of hand and then just took a nap on the couch. Woke up, turned on the Vandy-Tennessee game for a bit, said frick it and just went upstairs to bed.

I hope LSU fans never change

You have to understand the logic. Since Alabama only beat them 10-0, that means they were two plays away from beating you.
Its really not that hard to understand when you put your mind to it.

A rising tide raises all boats.
However
We are about to see the opposite. The SEC as a whole has paid insane salaries to it's coaches and we have expected results with near immediacy. Most coaches get 3-5 years and if they haven't met expectations, they are tossed in not the wind. I think the other coaches in college football are becoming wary of the caveat that you will get shitcanned quicker in the SEC than they would elsewhere. The longer tenures at other places will more than make up for the lower salaries (and expectations.)
An outgoing tide lowers all ships.
Tide's going out.

The flip side to that is, we played all late night games at home this year. Its a 2.5 hour drive for me so when we played Alabama A&M at 8:00, I did not go. Was not worth getting home at 3:00am to drive down and watch that game where half our starters were still in the Mash unit.

But we weren't all that from being 12-0 that would not be realistic. I said 11-1.
