There is a voice-mail from Gloria Scott to LSU where she says that Cleavon Williams and her grandson will be the two people contacting LSU on her behalf. Then Williams sends a text message to Miriam Seger claiming that the grandson has told him that the family is asking LSU to pay them $100,000 for her mental anguish.

This is Matt Moscona's show and he is laying it all out there very well with copies of the audio and text messages. They will upload the whole segment in the next hour or so I would imagine.

Who doesn’t know how the AAU basketball shoe world works? He was just getting him to say his number. You can hear Segar whispering to Verge

Whether she authorized what he did or not, clearly she talked to the AAU coach and got him involved. And he muddied things up so bad that the truth doesn't really matter any more.

It sounds like the nephew and grandson talked to Williams, then they schemed outside of her to get money and pressured her into being partially complicit.

I agree, that seems most likely.

It isn’t like that at all. Verge wasn’t going to pay the dude jack shite

They stated this in the beginning of the recording. The whole call on LSU's side was to get this dude implicated in the bribe/extortion

Throwing in the weird demand that she sets the punishment of sitting out the bowl game makes the foolishness level off the charts.

Yeah, it seems like he threw that in there just to give himself an out, when the majority of the conversation was about a dollar amount.

Williams doesn't come across as the brightest bulb by any means.

I can understand why Segar was flabbergasted that he wanted money only if Guice played in the Citrus Bowl but nothing if he didn't play in the game.

Very odd shakedown.

And then Verge talking about how he and the shakedown artist have a "lot of friends at Nike".

No shite. He was dead set on talking his way around not being recorded giving a number then texted the number like it wouldn't come back on him.

This dumbass ruined her whole case. Though as he says, he was only involved because she (or her family) reached out to him.

He tells Verge and Segar his entire hair-brained scheme. LSU turns him down cold and then lets the media know about said hair-brained scheme so they squash the story.

Everything makes a lot more sense now.

If you want to get paid, get a lawyer. Wanna shakedown a university directly? Better have some legit smoke for the NCAA. He hinted at it but didn't have anything remotely sufficient to scare LSU.

Also, Segar says Gloria Scott told her twice she that already had an attorney. That doesn't mesh with what she told the Senate committee.

Speaking of the Senate committee, instead of calling up Coach O I think they need to call back Gloria Scott to find out just WTF happened.

AAU guy's a idiot, but that's expected in the AAU circles of their business.

Miram Segar handled it like a pro though. Makes you wonder how many times school officials have had to deal with scum like this over the years?

Seems like to me, LSU is ok with Will Wade making "strong arse offers" but when anybody else in the state of Louisiana tries to make "strong arse offers" all hell breaks loose.

Either way, as before, I think it would behoove LSU to get out front and control the narrative

Verge, making one last run at getting AAU dude to throw out a real number:

"Cleav, you in this business, you in the AAU world Cleav, what's the number? What price you think this would be worth?"

Cleav is just in the people heppin' bidness.

Remember when everyone thought this wasn’t about money and I said there would be no reason to consult an attorney if it wasn’t?

Not sure I follow but that recording is great testimony as to why you absolutely should get an attorney and let them work for you. Not Morris Bart but definitely somebody like Star Advocates that knows WTF they are doing when it comes to sex crimes and schools like LSU.

Gloria Scott messed up big time getting this dude involved. It now makes perfect sense why no one in the media or any attorneys wanted to help her. Even without any evidence backing up her story, she had a very difficult case to make.

Will be interesting to see how the testimony at Thursday's committee meeting goes.

Here is the audio from the radio show. He talks mostly about the case for the first 25 minutes.
