They probably tried that approach Mack told them he didn’t want to leave and probably gave him no choice . I think Mack brown is still a good coach and if he still wants to coach let him coach I think one of these lower conference schools that have openings might give him a call.

UAB in Birmingham already has a statue of his brother at their new stadium. They would give Mack one if he could win at least 4 games a year for a few years.

He refused to go out on his own and forced them to fire him. He is way past done.

I wouldn’t be surprised if UNC did try that approach, only for Mack to dig his heels in
Yes sir I can just about guarantee it.

He didn't do shite really for UNC.
Deserved to go out like he did.

What’s even worse is that they fired him not even 24 hours after Brown said he was going to coach the team next season.

AD had to fire him after publicly saying he would retire if the players wanted him too… you can’t be half way in coaching . He’s to old there is zero future NC should have never rehired him . While we are at it I don’t know how Bubba still has a job as AD. He’s overseen two major scandals in athletics and all his coaches are failing!

Before he came and built that program, they were winning one game a year.
Dude, you may want to check that again. The prior coach, Dick Crum, won an average of 7 games a year over 10 years. He took them to 6 bowl games back when it meant something, and won 4 of them. He tailed off the last couple of years, but they were far from a 1 win or hapless program.
Mack is the one who only won 1 game in each of his first 2 seasons.

Mack is a petulant bitch. Dude is an egomaniac.

He's 73, how much longer was he really going to coach anyway?
Only thing I can think of is a young, upstart coach's agent contacted UNC and I can't think of who would do that.

Texas didn't know what running the ball was in football
If you could get the greatest living football minds in a room, and offer them each a billion dollars to come up with the worst possible opinion about college football, they couldn't do better than this.
There are MANY legti criicisms about Mack. This is lightyears away from being one of them.

They paid him plenty. He doesn’t deserve a damn thing.
