So., do you understand how the voting works...

TL first place votes were always his... Jones and Harris siphoned off first place bites from Smith. Most people who voted TL 1 , voted Smith 2; not Jones. Same goes for Trask.. the only way Jones would have won is if Smith didn’t.

If Jones had won, Smith would have been 3rd..

TL first place votes were always his!

Ryan Leaf was supposed to have some pretty good physical attributes too.

Ryan Leaf literally had all the physical attributes, it’s the mental attributes that he didn’t have.

The league is changing.. you don’t have to acknowledge it, but it is. The offenses are imitating the college game.

This might be why Mac will succeed in the NFL. He just had one of the best college seasons ever. His ability to read a defense, move in the pocket, quickly progress through his reads, and accurately deliver the ball at all 3 levels is what makes him special. His mental processing and quick delivery are the keys. No, he isn't going to be a threat to run (and how long do those QBs last?), but if he can dance in the pocket and get to the 3rd read quickly...that's a winner.

Where did I say that? I simply said you don't need to be mobile to succeed in today's game.

Could you have named Alabama's #2 and #3 receivers or receiving tight end for most of the season before 2020 started?

Probably not, because they had a grand total of 8 catches between the them coming into the season (Metchie 4, Bolden 2, Billingsley 2).

TLaw is a good qb, no hate from me. I think he'll have some NFL success but not immediately

That Alabama game that everyone always talks about where he was so great

I feel like that’s when most people really saw him for the first time, so that’s what people think back to when they see him. In reality he hasn’t come close to playing a game that good since. He’s a perfectly good QB and will make it in the NFL for sure, but this “best prospect since Andrew Luck” stuff is insane to me unless you base it off that one national championship game.

Objectively better? or are you saying he had a better year?

Honestly. If you were starting your own football team would you choose Lawrence or Mac Jones first as your QB?

Jones had a great year, but don't get statistics confused with which is the better QB. Put Lawrence in the Alabama offense with Alabama's players and Lawrence would shine brighter.

I'm really not sure that is true - not with our scheme. I'd agree for Joe Burrow, but I don't think it fits with Lawrence due to his up and down accuracy.

But Lawrence is clearly the better prospect moving forward, yes.

Only time will tell. The right situation for either one could be the difference in Super Bowl MVP or journeyman backups. Both will make the rosters on an NFL team and the rest is up to them.

Waddle and Forstall. Let’s not act like you knew Waddle was going to be hurt before the season started. Plus Forstall was solid last year. Just saying. Don’t even try and act like Bama didn’t have a wayyyyyyy better skill room than Clemson on offense. shite I would even would take Najee over Etienne due to his size and lack of tread.

I love how this new narrative is that Clemson is some plucky batch of 3*s, led by this amazingly talented QB surrounded by scrubs and walk-ons.

Let's look at how short on talent this poor, beleaguered Clemson team must have been.

2017: National Rank 16 / ACC Rank 3
2018: National Rank 7 / ACC Rank 1
2019: National Rank 10 / ACC Rank 1
2020: National Rank 3 / ACC Rank 1

2 5* receivers and 6 4* receivers. I think only one left prior to this year for the NFL (Tee Higgins).

But yeah, I'm sure Trevor had a rough time throwing to 4* and 5* WRs against 2* and 3* DBs.

Mac Jones had objectively a better season, at least from a statistical standpoint. He's not in the same league as Lawrence when it comes to overall talent and NFL potential though.

And Lawrence's backups had another 1,000 yards passing and 7 TD's in his absence. If we assumed Lawrence played those games and had similar numbers, the stat advantage by Mac Jones wouldn't be that crazy anymore (not to mention how much better Jones' supporting cast is too).

Honestly, I haven't really watched Lawrence all that much. I mainly figured that with all those WRs any QB would look great. Not meaning a slam at Mac Collins at all, though.

and i love the narrative that clemson is a bigger media darling than bama, and that's why trevor gets more fanfare.

posted this in another thread, but it's more applicable here...how irrelevant is max jones? had "the best season in SEC QB history", and couldn't even finish 2nd in the heisman? since 2000, the last 21 heismans have gone to 17 QBs. they win it at an +80% clip. imagine being considered such a nerd that heisman voters would rather try to give it to a guy that looks like a girl.
