Its absolutely ridiculous he ended in 2nd. It certainly was noted voted based off of performance.

When did they vote on this?

Mac had only two games where his rating was lower than Lawrence's season rating.

Alabama won those games by a combined 115-6.

Its BS.

Top 4 should have finished:

Smith
Mac
Trask
Harris

Lawrence was the biggest hype, anti- vote in history. Worst #2 EVER

They should show all voters rankings, so we can shame them

Lawrence was invited because of his college career as a whole. Najee Harris and Zach Wilson both should've been finalists instead.

Anyone else think that he's going to turn into a more mobile Stafford? A guy who the scouts rave about, but who as an NFL quarterback is not good enough to win anything but too good to be replaced.

I am not incredibly high on Trevor Lawrence. I think a lot of his perception was built on his WRs torching Savion Smith so bad he faked an injury to get off the field, I think what ‘19 OSU, ‘19 LSU, and ‘20 OSU showed is that if you can get him moving in the pocket that he’s not as effective of a thrower who gets kinda panicky. He’s a good QB runner but not a great QB scrambler. His first step when he decides he’s gonna bail and run isn’t like his predecessor’s first step.

Comparing him to Watson, I think the difference is that improv/secondary offense ability. Watson didn’t have good OLs either. The only good OL Clemson has had in their run is 2018 and coincidentally they let TL stand tall in the pocket and pick apart defenses. Watson is a great in the NFL and was a legend in college because of what he can do when the pocket breaks down. He stays cool, has that sense of pressure, keeps his eyes processing the defense, but will shift gears and gobble up yards right when he senses the rush closing. Lawrence doesn’t have that and essentially he would’ve never played LSU if OSU had a better plan to contain the QB runs in the 2019 game (which they did in the 2020 game).

Is he a first round talent? Sure. I think you probably should draft him 1st or 2nd overall depending how you feel about Fields. I just don’t think he’s going to end up being a star in the NFL like Deshaun Watson.

In 1996? Wuerfful. Peyton threw 20 TD/12 INT in 1996.

Know something funny? Wuerfull won the Heisman in 1996 but finished #2 in Passer Rating. Know who finished #1?

#1 - Steve Sarkisian, BYU (173.6)
#2 - Danny Wuerffel, Florida (170.6)

Yet Manning was by far the better pro. That will be Lawrence (Manning) and Mac (Sark and Wuerffel).

What those stats don’t show us YACS. Bama throws a lot of short balls that the receivers turn into big gains. Shorter throwers are easier to be accurate , less chance for sacks, less chance for something bad to happen.

Mac throws a great deep ball, he just doesn’t do it often, Bama s only takes a deep shot when they have everything set up. Which is great, but that’s not your offense.. you only throw on play action ... everything else is short.

If your honest.. TL might have a great NFL career, he still struggle in a messy pocket. I don’t see Mac Jones as anything more than a back up, the skill sets of today’s NEW QBs has a need to be more mobile; he just doesn’t have that.

One of the slowest and most unathletic QBs in the history of the NFL just threw for over 4,600 yards and 40 TDs at age 43. You don't need to be mobile to succeed in the pros.

Both guys won’t do S in the NFL. Jones will be a backup. Goldy Locks will be a bust.

You think Mac is going to be Tom Brady!! Ok..

The league is changing.. you don’t have to acknowledge it, but it is. The offenses are imitating the college game. I do not think any franchise will want to build around him.
