LSU is about to finally realize its full potential.

And it only took a short 120 years to get there.

You got beat by a team who has the 3rd fewest scholarship players in the Power 5. Starting a transfer QB, two true freshman tackles, a true freshman tight end and a true freshman linebacker. Let that sink in.

You u got pummelled on your home turf by a team full of 3stars. Starting a transfer QB, with a cobbled together patchwork roster. Let that sink in.

Is Alabama the worst team ever to have a returning heisman starting qb?

Wouldn’t throw stones in glass houses. Yea it was the COVID year, but 2020 LSU was the worst ever defending National Champion.

2013 Texas 8&4 was worse than than this year’s Bama team. They were returning the great Heisman winner Johnny Football. And they were actually 8-4 that year.

And somehow still better than the returning Heisman winner, best coach of all time, and best defensive player in the country. This was Bama’s best (preseason) team on paper of all time. That must sting.

ETA: during a rebuild year, too! How will you recover?

Arkansas 2006, had 2 losses and the end of the regular season and ended the season 10-4

LSU 2007, had 2 SEC losses at the end of the regular season

Auburn 2017, had 2 losses, one to unranked LSU, at the end of the regular season and ended the season 10-4

Of those three, you sort of have to lean to Arkansas 2006. LSU 2007 obviously won the national championship, and prior to the SECCG Auburn was in the top 4 playoff rankings coming off wins over UGA and Bama. Auburn's mojo just didn't extend outside of Jordan-Hare.

The weakest west champ is still higher then the 2nd place team from the west.
He'll LSU could lose to 3&9 and still win the west. Good news if that happens you can hang a " co sec west champion" banner. Ole miss has a guy if you need him.

The SEC East has produced a lot of weak champions over the last 13 years,

Truth.

2019: LSU 37 UGA 10
2016: Bama 54 Florida 16
2014: Bama 42 Mizzu 13
2011: LSU 42 UGA 10
2010 : AU 56 USC 17
2009: Bama 32 Florida 13
2003: LSU 34 UGA 13

Since the turn of the century, the West has beat the East 16 times while losing 6 times. The West has won 12 of the last 13 championship games.

Really competitive, is more accurate. Top 3 teams sitting at 8-2...all in the Top 15 including 2 in the Top 10. We just aren't seeing the huge drop off from the top spot.

This is very true.

Crazy how a blocked PAT is basically the difference from LSU being in the top 4 playoff spots.

That said, the SEC West looks like it could easily have 3 11+ win teams this year. All 3 should definitely end with 10 wins minimum.

I think 2011 was the last time we had three teams with 11+ wins.

Arkansas gave up after the Fish Fumble. Had we gone and played Ohio State for the title that year, we would’ve destroyed them just like y’all did the next year going in with 2 losses.

Worst SEC west champs > every other SEC west team that year.

I’d gladly take that title this year. Instead we’re with “the rest”
