They're #3 but you have to know how to read his ratings. I mean the directions are in this thread but whatever. I'm tired of explaining it. Like i said its been 14 or so years now. By now people should know how to read his ratings.

Sagarin Poll is worth about as much as a picture of warm spit, to steal an analogy from John Nance Garner.

Its actually worth plenty, once you get a little ways into the season. Obviously at this point its meaningless, he even states as much.

i don't see how this is so hard to figure out.

LSU is number 1 in the part that matters in the BCS.

For BCS purposes, the ELO-Chess ranking is used.

LSU is #1, Boise is #2 and Alabama is #3..

Auburn #13.

I stopped right there.

You have got to be kidding me. We should be about #30.

This thread is really revealing the posters that should be ignored.

How does Sagarin work into the total rankings?

he is one the 6 computer systems. they throw out the high AND low score on each system for every team, and keep the 4 middle scores.

So... if LSU is #2 on Sagarin, but is #3 on the other 5 systems, Sagarin's would be tossed aside that week.

In real life the BCS does not start until after the 6th week.

The BCS score of a team is 1/3rd the computers, and 1/3 one human poll and 1/3 the other human poll.

Harris is one human poll. They have over 100 people picking their results. retired players. retired coaches. current media people and current coaches.

the other poll is all coaches.

two other polls are not related to the BCS at all.

So, you can still win the writers poll trophy, such as USCw did when LSU was national champ one year.

Sagarin has a sponsor, USA Today, so they put his results out every week.

sagarin (both predictor and elo chess) are useless until all teams are (as he puts it) "well-connected" because he uses preseason weighting until then

usually takes about 6 weeks or so

exhibit A: compare baylor and tcu

Sagarin's total rankings don't matter. The ELO Chess ranking is all that matters, as that is part of the BCS formula.
