LOL at LSU for hiring a coach that has either never been to Omaha or has yet to win a game in Omaha.

Your coach has never won a game in Omaha either. Congrats on the moral victory of getting to play in the tournament.

Godwin (ECU)

It's gonna be Godwin.

But until Vitello comes out and says he is staying at Tennessee and actually signs his new contract, those rumors are not gonna die.

If Woody already interviewed Johnson, you can bet he is still in hot pursuit of Vitello.

I like Godwin a a lot. His demeanor and emotion feels like it would fit in Baton Rouge, too (especially after the comatose last few years under Pawl).

My only slight hangup about Godwin would be that he coached at a historically solid program in ECU and he really didn't take them to another level. ECU has played great baseball for 40 years pretty consistently - all the way back to even before Hal Baird.

However, Godwin has been great there and has extensive history in the SEC between Vandy, LSU and Ole Miss. And his best teams have been the most recent 3-4 - all teams made up entirely of kids he recruited. That's a pretty good sign.

I just don't know enough about Johnson or Jarrett. I thought Notre Dame was really impressive in the Supers at Starkville and looked like a well coached team. I know nothing about Johnson except for the results, and they would definitely make me a little nervous.

You should've clicked out of that "story" once you saw the claim that Bianco "removed" his name. Like anyone wants a guy that's been to Omaha once in 21 years, and like that same loser coach would turn down a national power to coach O.M.A.H.A.

Not sure how much I'd trust this report.

Every single report about this search, especially from Guilbeau, has been 100% wrong.

That said, I'd love Godwin.

Glenn Guilbeau is generally hated by the LSU fan base, and his only source regarding baseball is the old guard. The same old guard that are mad Woody didn't want their guy in Bianco. Guilbeau even reported last week that Bianco to LSU was a done deal and would be announced soon.

Not saying the report is totally baseless, but I wouldn't take this as the end all be all.

Most LSU fans wanted Vitello to piss off TN fans. The majority have always wanted MCDonnell.
