LSU fans think they forced all 5 of A&M turnovers. A&M carved them up. They get some lucky bounces and calls and were able to win the game.
They lose way too many quality multi year starters on defense to be a threat next year unless they improve on offense tremendously.

how so?
Faster, lighter guys. It's a lot harder to stretch LSU out.

Seems like I've heard this before.

The problem for LSU is that a lot of the other teams in the conference and in the division are getting better. Its already the toughest division in football.
Alabama and A&M will be very good next year but Auburn and Arkansas might be the worst teams in the conference (ok, not the worst, still better than KY)
MSU isn't doing anything special either. The real challenge for LSU next year is the road game to UGA and the home game against Florida - just losing one of those puts them at a disadvantage to A&M and Alabama

LSU's defense is built for speed and not power( chavis has said multiple times he will never sacrifice speed for power in his system.) Which is exactly what you need to contain manziel.
yeah thats a good point. Sumlin openly admitted that aTm doesnt want to stand up and go power vs power against some of the better SEC teams. I think last years LSU D was very capable of stopping JFF, probably moreso than any other team. Two speed rushers at DE, a beast at MLB, experienced safeties and cover corners is a nice blueprint for bottling up the Heisman winner.
But honestly, Im not sure if they can repeat that formula next season. They gotta develop 2 really good pass rushers, 2 good safeties, and a MLB.

I'm actually really excited about our young linebackers. Our D was damn fast in '11, and our linebackers left a lot to be desired. It's just the tweeners Chavis likes to recruit.

You do realize that LSU was ahead 24-12 until A&M scored a late, garbage TD to pull within 5 don't you?
Did you watch the game at all? A&M moved up and down the field in the first quarter and got 12 points. After that, they did nothing until the very end. LSU adjusted and won the game with room to spare.
How the LSU-A&M game has gone through such revisionist history, I have no idea. It is really hilarious.

they were both terrible last year, but I feel like their new HCs will make them a little better next year. Malzahn can fix the offense at AU, even if the defense continues to be dog shite. Bielema is unproven in the SEC, but it doesnt take a genius to be a better coach than JLS. I cant imagine that Arky could be any worse next season.

It's been treated the same way the LSU-Bama game in '11 was.

Do LSU fans honestly believe this will have no effect?
Would Bama prefer that Milner, Lacy, and Fluker stay another year? Or are we glad they are gone.
Early departures of NFL caliber players take their toll. It's the nature of the beast. I'm happy for the players that go early, though. This is their best shot at making a lot of money--so I say "thanks for the crystal" and hope the guy behind them steps up.
Look at our defense THIS year. It took a couple of steps back--still got it done, but imagine if they had stayed?

Losing Logan, Mingo, Montgomery, Reid, and Simon off the D is brutal.

Who said it would not have an effect? It likely will on the defense, but we get 10 of 11 starters back on offense and I think that Mett will be better and the O will be more consistent.
LSU's ONLY problem is inexperience. The D is loaded with talent and they just have to come together. If LSU can make it through the first month unscathed and if everyone gells, I like our chances.
We'll see. But, LSU is not going away.
Sorry.

Aggie fans know this, but we're not trying to rustle their jimmies. Swamp kittens' jimmies are easily rustled these days.
-Someone points out LSU's tough 2013 schedule-rustled jimmies.
-Try to point out their record number of early draft declarations- rustled jimmies.
-Nick Saban doesn't rush to praise LSU in an interview- rustled jimmies.

Not really ... you don't need great pass rushers to defend Manziel. You need disciplined ends to contain him and not overrun plays. Loston will still be there at Safety, along with Ronald Martin who saw a good bit of playing time last year. IMO the biggest loss is Minter, but with Barrow, Feist, Taj Jones, Alexander, Debo Jones and Louis Lamar all seeing playing time this past year, I'm confident Chavis will field a potent LB corps.
