Same thing was said about losing Claiborne and Brockers

We'll be fine. Worry more about how your team is going to win more than 5 games this year

LSU '12 had 14 JR/SR starters

Six were multi year starters. Two on offense and the others on defense. Seven if you count Mingo, he started only five games in '10. Not even half the season. The only three year starters lost were on offense.

Fast forward to '13

LSU has 14 JR/SR projected starters. Sound familar?

Seven on offense and seven on defense.

Of those seven upperclassmen projected on offense four are returning starters.

Offense also returns three sophs to be that started as freshmen in '12. Three upperclass WRs that each have multiple starts in the last two years. An O-lineman that started back half of '10, all of '11 and first 5-6 six games in '12 will be returning from injury. Starting season opener at RB in '12 also returning from injury. Injured about four games in last year.

Of the seven project JR/SR starters on defense only two were starters last year. Three of the new starters do have starting experience. Two will be starting for the first time.

Besides the upperclass starters defense returns one CB that was a starter as a tr fr last year.
Also return three LBs that shared the starts at OLB last year and one CB with starting experience.

LSU returns 14 players on offense with starting experience.

LSU returns 10 players on defense with starting experience.

LSU returns punter, kicker, long snapper and return man all with game experience.

If you think that's an inexperienced team show me what you got.

Hill and Yeldon are clearly on the same level talent-wise.

Yeldon was the #2 RB coming out of high school, Hill was #21 the year he graduated. Yeldon was the #12 prospect overall in the nation while Hill wasn't in the top 250 in his class. I like Hill but this "clearly" is rather homerish.

I think that the oft prophesied and long hoped for demise of LSU on this board and around the country is once again premature.

first, it was LSU/Auburn that decided the SEC...then it was LSU/Florida....now it's LSU/bama.

one common factor

The issue is that LSU's offense sucks and barring unforseen changes will continue to suck into the immediate future. They rely on their defense to win games, a defense that is losing up to seven starters.

Combine these facts with Les Miles' long history of poor in-game management and I believe an honest LSU fan would be hardpressed to not have some concern.

A combination of incredible defense and a good number of fortuitous bounces have carried LSU for a while now. Even if the defense is just "good" next year, they could lose 4-5 games.

You're right. This year is most relevant:

Jeremy Hill - 142 Attempts, 755 yards, 5.3 YPC, 12 TD

TJ Yeldon - 175 Attempts, 1,108 yards, 6.3 YPC, 12 TD

Did nothing?

2 missed field goals in the 4th from the LSU 34 and the freakin 14.

Revisionist?

It was 17-12 with 3:20 remaining in the game.

LSU had a bigger lead than that against Clemson before giving up some "garbage" scores.

I don't care enough to look, but I'm guessing most of the offense is returning, which isn't really anything to be that excited about.

And no, the rest of the country doesn't really give a shite about LSU. Maybe the SEC.

Both Bama and LSU dodged a major bullet in 2013 by not having to play and get plunger raped by James Franklin and the Dores. Franklin would impregnate Saban and Miles in under two full quarters of play.
