I’ll give you Saban. However Kirby had never been a head coach. So as far as tiers go. Lane comes into LSU in a higher tier than Kirby went to UGA. If you want to talk present day Kirby then you’re gonna have to wait some years.

Sure, but I'd also say that A&M and Arkansas look a lot easier now. Even Auburn looks worse than I expected.

I told them to quiet down they didnt listen they are improved for sure but that doesn’t matter now the big boys are in the conference . I see 3-4 more losses .

Yeah, but Kirby had been such a huge factor for Saban at Bama for years when UGA got him. I think I would feel differently about LK’s ability if Saban had retained him longer, like he did with Kirby.
I just find it funny it’s always referencing Saban and Kirby’s first year records, but not Brian Kelly at LSU (10 wins) or Jimbo Fisher at A&M (9 wins). The first season can be incredibly misleading as an indicator of success, because of varying factors.

I am always on the 1st year is what it is train, but it does have limits for most.
Accepting a 7 to 9 win season from the outset sounds more than reasonable. If better, great.
But, I do wonder (and don't think it occurs) what the floor of acceptable wins would be for most LSU fans that would start casting doubt on the hire in their minds in year 1 and completely place laser focus on year 2 for a marked improvement or else sentiment, even though his contract isn't seeing him go anywhere for a while without cause.
