The corndog title was first used against Auburn by fans of another school since the late 90's, the Auburn board turned against LSU around the year 2001.
The famous statement on the Auburn board in 2001-2 was LSU corndogs will never win another National Championship (in college football)

I love corndogs. State fair dogs are the best.

This is a true statement. Much more popular in the South, I believe.

Teams had to make up some kind of insult because they couldnt beat us on the field.
Well, this is absolutely false.

Shouldn't be putting corndogs up their arse.
This notion gets you hard doesn't it? No shame in admitting it...well not much anyway.

Their fascination with corndogs is amusing...I'm not sure if were supposed to be insulted but its never bothered me.

Gumbo. Jambalya. OK. But no self respecting Louisianian would eat corndogs. So I have no idea where it started and it doesn't make much sense. We may all smell like Gumbo. But not corndogs.

Back in the late 90's early 2000's the best college message boards where LSU, Texas, Florida and Auburn, the rest of the SEC boards were thin and not very good.
Auburn became a large target by a fan base group of another smaller school which started to call them corndogs, because they were Alabama want to be.
The mod on the Auburn board started calling LSU corndogs around 2001, when Nick had turn the program around somewhat.
He was a good writer, many funny post.
The Texas board in those days was one of the top 3 in the us, like the LSU board.
Those are the daily stops in those days for the fans that followed football daily, rivals would then come in and change the lay of the land.

Big 12 fans didn't think the joke was funny or clever. Surprise surprise, idiotic SEC fans still think it's funny. We may have better football, but we also have much more simplistic fans.
No one thinks it’s funny, but y’all’s reaction to it is kind of hilarious. Personally I think all of these nicknames are dumb and I immediately dock IQ points when I see someone using any of them. But y’all honestly are the only ones who have a lot of people who consistently get bent out of shape by the nickname itself. Have you ever seen a Bama fan raging that “Forest Gump isn’t even real!” or an Auburn fan screaming “I don’t eat boogers and I haven’t even seen a barn?” No, because it doesn’t matter.

I embrace it.
And I like a good fairground corndog.

What reaction? The vast majority of LSU fans couldn't care less, because it makes no sense.
It took about 5 years to even register for most LSU fans what that was all about.
People from Alabama have a super simplistic sense of humor.

Back about 2001 an Auburn fan copied it from a message board fan of another team. I can't remember if it was a Big 8 school or midwest school, but it for sure was not SEC and it was for sure not about LSU.
darn I should have read further in the thread. SonsofSaban posted it already.

Umm, just read this thread to see examples of LSU fans getting upset over this juvenile shite?

Seems like most of them are just saying its copied from another fanbase and has no bearing on LSU.
