I don't, but can't speak for all. He's infinitely more appealing than Mel Tucker though.

We do not need a flashy coach, we need someone to come build a machine at LSU. Process oriented that can steady the waters anticipating Saban's eventual decline.

Who's "elite" and available?

Absolutely those three would be the unicorn/white whale/send shockwaves through CFB hires.

Not saying they would come, but LSU/Woodward would make the strongest case of just about any school.

That said, I think only Fickell has a decent chance of the three.

They're stuck in the Joe Pa glory days. That Penn State is gone.

The good ole days of covering up child sexual abuse while also engaging in other cult-like behaviors. It’s a good thing that that Penn St is gone.

I didn't say anyone elite is available, just that he isn't...... I'd start by assessing who I think has a possibility to become elite, and the one that really sticks out in my mind is Fickell. What he has done in Cincinnati in the last 3-4 years is nothing short of astonishing. if you observe him on the sidelines during games he just exudes a toughness combined with his teams always being so fundamentally sound They are fun to watch because he really coaches up those 3* with a very competent staff. he is loved by his players, repected by staff, is a really good recruiter and x'o coach.... plus he comes across as being a really intelligent and genuine guy.

That's kind of one of the issues IMO. There really aren't any can't miss candidates right now. Then again, pretty much everyone thought Herman was that in 2016.

won at Vanderbilt and would have greater talent than he does now

My only hesitation to that is how he won at Vandy and what type of players he was bringing into the program.

I'd take James Franklin at LSU in a heartbeat. What he did at Vandy, playing an SEC schedule, was almost impossible for most HC's.

I would be very excited if Franklin is the next LSU HC.

Note: Penn State is not what it once was in the 1970s and 1980s. IMO, no HC is going to win a NC at Penn State.

This shite would keep CFB entertaining for a long time to come.

The guy was able to win at Vanderbilt and knows the southeast recruiting area. Imagine what he could do being able to recruit Louisiana and Texas. I think he would be a great hire.

I think every word of this is true, so PLEASE listen to OP and go another direction.

He won in the East when Florida was post Urban, UGA was on the back side of Richt, Kentucky wasn’t nearly as good as they are now, UT still sucked, but South Carolina was good.

Yes he still elevated Vandy but it wasn’t like he elevated Vandy in the late 90’s early 2000’s where you had power house UT, UF, and a damn good UGA.

I want Campbell from Iowa State. Franklin is a decent coach but not the guy. Want a young dude who will stick around long term.
