Watch the way white was running on the step before he "launched". Between steps he normally goes mid air on both feet for a split second, that is normal. The impact of his arms slamming into Nick's CHEST made him fall slower making it look as if it was a "launch".

has nothing to do with that, and everything to do with White leading with his elbow and forearm to Fitz's neck/throat.

That's not the initial hit, and that reverse angle is misleading. From the other side you can see his hand never touches Fitz's head or neck.

Next.

So, it's reasonable that the call was made? It's not actually unbelievable or the worst call ever like LSU fans are pretending?

You're right. Forearms to the shoulder pads is illegal.

Except it was hands to the chest area.

Watch the video. It slows it down so you can see it. I hate it for you guys, because I would love it if we won the East and you won the West. I want another shot at you....but his hands are clearly in the neck area.

contact at the head or neck area

Do Bama fans believe their player targeted the UT QB yesterday?

Some Bama fans don’t understand forcible contact. He lead with the hands to push fitz. Hands were under shoulder pads. Any helmet contact was accidental.

Targeting, maybe. First contact was his hand to collar of shoulder pads, then forearm sliding to his chin. Roughing the passer, yes. I know y'all don't give a shite what I think, but roughing the passer happens all the time and is never called, unless it's against a "star" QB.

forcible contact

The only forcible contact that occurred was White’s hands to Fitz’s Chest. It was a horrible call especially considering the no calls on obvious targeting we have seen this year.

That is absolutely not true.

According to the language of the rule.. every lineman on both offense and defense should be flagged for targeting because the moment the get down in their three or four stance they are leading with their helmet and is therefore targeting...

Also if you follow the strict language of holding every Olineman would get called in every game...

Sounds reasonable doesn't it..

So.... Not only is it an extremely terrible call, but a call that cannot be overturned and results in not merely a "penalty" but an ejection....

Yeah... thats really good for the sport... but lets not challenge the integrity of the call.

Launching does not account to targeting, targeting USUALLY involves a player launching themselves at the head or neck (with intent) of another player while leading with their helmet. People keep saying either he hit him in the head/neck , which he didn't, or he launched himself, which he didnt.

Every tackle where the defender hits the ball carrier would be targeting if "launching" was the only criteria. They would have to run straight into the defender for it to not be targeting.
