Targeting doesn’t just mean ‘helmet-to-helmet.’ Read the actual NCAA football rule.

quote:

No player shall target and make forcible contact to the head or neck area of a defenseless opponent (See Note 2 below) with the helmet, forearm, hand, fist, elbow or shoulder. This foul requires that there be at least one indicator of targeting (See Note 1 below). When in question, it is a foul (Rules 2-27-14 and 9-6). (A.R. 9-1-4-I-VI)

quote:

Leading with helmet, shoulder, forearm, fist, hand or elbow to attack with forcible contact at the head or neck area

Except it was hands to the chest area.

He hit him the chest, numbnuts. His helmet glanced Fitz’s facemask when he turned his head. White hit him in the chest and extended his hands away from his body to throw Fitz to the ground. Didn’t launch or ever hit him in the neck or head. That’s why Fitz was confused about being forced to exit the game for a play.

Yep and the QB is defenseless, especially when not running.

According to what you posted, it wasn’t targeting. He lead with his hands and forearm to the chest of the QB. Unless you’re saying the chest is in the head and neck area then by definition, it wasn’t targeting.

Ejection for targeting is stupid.

If it takes LSU fans losing their shite to potentially get the rule changed for all of the SEC, I’ll take it.

Per the rule it’s the correct call. It’s a call they can make the entire game. If the officiating is going to start consocalling that a foul we might as well start playing flag football.

I agree. It's also done and the reason why ppl keep talking about it is because of certian LSU fans going over edge and not listening

LSU fans lose their shite over EVERYTHING--that's why this board exists.

Not true. The elected officials got their back. - which is extremely embarrassing.

False, I watched the play from multiple angles multiple times he contacted Fitzgerald ON THE SHOULDER PADS

Also, how did he launch, but never leave his feet. Finished the play on his feet. Stupid call. He hit him in the chest. The debate should be if it was roughing, if they thought it was a bit late. It certainly wasn’t targeting by any definition.

I think it should be 2 targeting penalties for ejection... or even better come up with a way to account for intent.

Its ridiculous that you can taunt another player or curse out an official or chop block
Someone and not get ejected, but if you sack a QB on a relatively routine play you can get ejected.

It's gonna be funny when they waive the suspension
