Jimbo clearly outcoached LSU, mostly because they did a lot of things they haven't done the rest of this year. If I'm an Aggie, I'd be curious where that was the rest of the year.
I’m glad you’re on record about Kelly being out coached and not making excuses.
As to where it has been all year, that’s an excellent question. I thought about it a lot.
The most logical conclusion is that A&M didn’t face any team that played a true freshman OLB that is not ready to stop the run.

I don’t know if you can’t see the forest for the trees, or you’re just dumb, but the “year 1” and “year 5” stuff is pretty damn irrelevant with the transfer portal now.
A coach can put together a team in a year and make the CFP (Riley at USC) or a coach can completely ignore the portal and end up playing a team full of true freshmen (Jimbo), or you could just get completely gutted. Moving forward a coach’s job will be more about roster management than how good of a coach he actually is.

Kelly totally choked. No doubt about it. Our team has no leadership.

It was a bad loss. I'd think A/M would have a little more sportsmanship considering the pile of bad losses they've accumulated in one season.

It was a meaningful loss. But this is not an elite team and those who watched all our games know it. It's reminiscent of the early Saban teams that were well coached but hadn't bought in and were up one week and down the next. And considering we were picked 5th in the West and finished first and had some great wins, pardon us for not being suicidal. This team learned a hard PROGRAM lesson last Saturday and considering we get virtually the entire team back next year and have a favorable schedule, we can put the loss in perspective. That loss probably wins us a couple games next year. If you've watched football, you know this. You knock on the door one year and knock it down the next or the year after. You build a PROGRAM off of lessons like that loss.

That's actually one of the dumbest takes I've ever read on this site.
A coach's tenure absolutely matters, recruiting high school kids is the foundation of a program, transfers should merely be a supplemental tool.
Not to mention what kind of advantage there is with years vs months in a certain system or how it helps/hurts the culture.
Roster management has always been a huge part of college football and it will be even bigger going forward, that doesn't bode well for Jimbo because that's one thing he's never been particularly good at.

Was last weekend’s beatdown meaningless, in your opinion? If so, why?
It sucked with the opportunity at CFP.
But, this season was fun as hell!
Zero expectations as I thought the rebuild would take a while and LSU would make a serious run in 2024.
LSU was picked to be last in the conference, 6 win total.
Yet, here LSU is, against all odds they won the west and playing for the SEC championship!
Fun Season.
You looking forward to AM bowl game after forfeiting last year?

The majority of the year, Jimbo's offense had little to no motion, did not move the quarterback around, tended to throw the ball a ton more than necessary, and run blocking was abysmal.
Suddenly, all of that was different, just like last year vs Bama.
I can't expect the LSU coaching staff to be prepared for that, they hadn't seen it all year.
So now, we have to ask ourselves, why can Jimbo show up against "good teams" but he's garbage the rest of the year?

You’d probably be surprised to learn that Jimbo only lost one game a mere 2 seasons ago and finished ranked #4.
So someone with extensive football knowledge, such as yourself, would understand root causes and not forget them so easily.

Ed Orgeron won a national championship and was fired two years later.
And he had a better SEC record over his final two seasons than Jimbo has over his last two.
Mike Elko carried that team, hell he managed to win 8 games as a first time head coach while Jimbo only could win 5.

Great. So you do understand that. Yes, Elko is a badass, and we are happy for his success. Our new “first year” DC confused us most of the year by employing a 3DL front. Not as good as Elko’s defense, but also responsible some huge plays in our SEC wins. But I am looking to see a 4 DL front much more in the future.

Aggy there is no getting around 7 losses and no bowl. I guess you are happy with one good performance a year? That is why you are Aggy.

If it wasn’t for the portal, both Lincoln Riley and Brian Kelly would have had really bad seasons. They totally turned over their rosters and had good season. Pre-portal that is not happening.
The “year x” comparisons really don’t have the weight they used to. You can have a lot better season in year 1 than you used to. You can put together a “team” like the nfl, versus wait around for 3 years to build a “program” to start winning.

I guess that really takes a lot of the air out of the muh Jimbo only had freshmen Agscuse.

Sorry, this board is open to football discussions only for schools whose football season has not ended.

Bull, LSU would have been #4 and you know it. A&M officially knocked you all out of the playoffs.
Oh well. It happens.
It’s not like we haven’t won a NC since WWII.
