Agreed on both counts.

As long as it's not 5 mil a year, I'm fine with it. He hasn't earned Saban like money yet. Most level headed fans should be happy we can keep a top coach in our system that has keep a top tier program at or near the top year in and year out.

I think Les is a good football coach, but I'm on the fence with the extra money and extension.

If Aleva will let himself get taken advantage of, it isn't Miles fault

Les just got two extensions in the past year. Loaded with incentives. His agent was just playing games with the LSU administration. At some point, they will have to draw the line.

Yes, dude is worth it all.
We win games.
Louisiana, south LA in particular, is probably one of the most diverse areas in the country, it needs a diverse coach-Coach Miles fits.
I'd guess most people in the America love Coach Miles, just as most of the rational, sane Tiger fans.

Yes, I am very happy with the raise and extension. At times his decisions have me shaking my head but wins are wins and we are always in the hunt. Glad he is staying a tiger.

When Miles turned down Michigan again, he knew LSU was the last stop. He'll retire here or be fired. Thank God we have Les, people who think otherwise are delusional.

Yes. Les Miles is a great coach who has done an excellent job throughout his tenure at LSU. He will continue to do so for a long time while most other SEC schools go through ups and downs with lots of coaches.

LSU is in a great place with Les Miles.

Thrilled

It's a great day for LSU.

I've been a fan since birth, 1967.

LSU fans frankly have waited our entire lives for a coach to see what this place could be. And we've finally found him. Or he found us. But the point is, he wants to stay. There was another, but he had an itch. no problem.

I've said it hundreds of times. His craziness fits our craziness. like two peas in a pod.

I saw a interesting thing today on ESPNews or whatever. Since Miles took over at LSU, the program is second in the country to Boise in wins and first overall amoung BCS schools.

We all bicker and throw numbers and shite around to try and make a point or flame others. But taking out the normal comparisions that usually occur, that fact speaks for itself.

Sure.

LSU could have gone out an actually hired a coach that could take their program to even better places.

Who could? Name some HCs that are available.

A coach that would have more than 1 national championship at a place like LSU, which recruits itself pretty much.

How many coaches in the history of LSU has won a NC? And how many NCs?

quote:

A lot of football coaches could do what Les has done at LSU. JMO.

Again, who? In my lifetime, many HCs at LSU could not get it done, and some left LSU in complete shambles.

Not so good at math? FIFY. Good try though.

My math skills are fine. I have a BS and MS in Civil Engineering. I took that percentage right off of a website. I never checked the numbers.

Just because the last two coaches at LSU have been successful doesn't mean it's "easy" to win at LSU. Just ask every coach before them. We are in the SEC for godsakes, NOTHING is easy. Our last two coaches happen to be the best at what they do because no one works as hard as they do, no one. He may only have one NC but he has gotten us there twice and is one first down away vs Bama from being in their same position now. Give Miles some credit.

[quote]Compliments of Slackster on the Rant......

Everytime I see someone arguing that LSU is better off with Miles, the root of their argument is that LSU would hire a slamdunk, sure fire head coach to replace him. Hell, I'm a Miles guy, but if I knew I would get Jim Harbaugh to replace him, I would be fine. But that is not how these things work.

With Miles, LSU can be anywhere from 8-5 to 13-1, and we will likely maintain an .810 winning percentage. We will compete for conference and national championships, and we will scratch our heads at some of his moves the whole time.

However, without Miles, who actually knows what we will be? Is there a coach out there that could improve upon what Miles has done? Sure. But the problem is that the vast majority of coaches will likely underperform Miles, and that is simply not a risk worth taking.

For LSU, the only available coach in the country who is a sure-fire, slam dunk kind of guy is already at the helm.

They made the best decision in this scenario, everyone knows that he isn't going anywhere for a long time so it's time to just deal with it. It is incredibly time/money consuming to go out and find a new coach that probably will not improve things much. There are only 3 coaches in the country that can do it at any program, and none of them are available.

Les Miles 85-20 (.761) LSU? Well, that or 81%, somewhere in there.
