Rig, I’m a diehard LSU fan. My wife is retired from the mental health field. We just finished a conversation about what sorts of things could be going on with someone his age. There is no glee and there are no victory laps being taken here. We’re talking about a young man who is at a pivotal point in his life, and I pray that it goes the right way for him. Hopefully he gets the help he needs and isn’t just discarded to be someone else’s problem.

Why is everyone so quick to say this kid is mentally ill. Like sure if he is, he deserves some degree of understanding or sympathy, but is there anything out there that he’s mentally ill.

That doesn’t means your fanbase gets a pass. That’s not how things work here, and you damn well know it. It also doesn’t make people wrong or out of line for predicting that moving back home wouldn’t be a magic wand for Gilbert. I legitimately do hope he gets his life on track and is able to take advantage of his talents once he does, but I also predicted he wouldn’t be a factor for anyone this year after the roller coaster that he took 3 or 4 programs on this off-season. One does not preclude the other.
