Cannon/Stovall?

I'm reading some LSU history and find it quite interesting that these two backs from the '60s were both Heisman candidates in successive years with tons of trophy hardware.

If so, look for Guice to win the Walter Camp award next season.

All I know is that Fournette was pretty good, and Guice is also pretty good.

As long as Guice doesn't get hurt, he's got a chance. I'd be slightly concerned with injury given his angry, reckless running style.

The personal awards are nice, but I'd be more impressed with a championship and a season better than 8-4 or 9-3 like the last two.

This. I noticed he literally jumps into a lot of tackles... causes him to break several, but man does he land awkwardly sometimes.

I've heard him called an "angry" or "reckless" runner a lot. But I really don't see that as the case.
He runs hard and his cuts seem sudden and angry. But if you pay attention, he's a very deliberate runner.

To be honest, I'd think he has a lower chance of injury than Fournette. Because, in instances in which LF would have actively tried to truck LB/DBs, Guice focuses more on being evasive.

Except when kickers decide to get in his way.

I have thoroughly enjoyed watching these two backs over the past few years ... Except against Bama, that has been painful

Poor kid. Someone should send flowers to his family.

Good question there TD.

Never thought of the analogy but it's a good one.

We've had a lot of great RBs, but I think the last time we may have had 2 Heisman-worthy RBs on the same team was Kevin Faulk and Cecil Collins. Of course Collins threw it all away.

From what I've read, Stovall was the favorite all of 1962 to win it, but Terry Baker scored on a 98 yard QB sneak in the final game and somehow the northern media came all over themselves because of that one play.....(sorta like when Manning lost to the Michigan DB).

There has been an old tale that he still has not recovered mentally from that hit... RIP
