LSU was behind Bama and Tennessee in SEC championships just ahead of Georgia. LSU,Bama,UT,Auburn and Ga are the only SEC schools with AP/UPI BCS titles

Ole Miss fans like to pretend LSU hasn't been a superior program for a hundred years.

I'm gonna need you to show me where any LSU fan has compared our history to Alabama and said it was equivalent.

a top 15 program. had some real bad years in the nineties. in the late 50's maybe the premier team in the nation but had other really good periods also. frankly, in that century LSU had a winning record against Alabama sans bear Bryant. Bryant changed everything at bama.

The 70's and 80's had some good teams here and there that would eventually lose their bowl to Nebraska. The early to mid 90's were rough....all attention was focused on baseball.

LSU and Auburn are very similar historically. If the OP isn't familiar with either then that won't help, but it's very true.
LSU does have a higher ceiling than Auburn because they are the only real program in their state.
The big difference is this: LSU historically has been erratic and somewhat underachieved; whereas Auburn has been erratic but seems to somewhat overachieve.
This is a pretty spot on analysis imo.

Nah, either Miles wins the west or next year there will be a change IMO.
It's not like they could justify an extension and a pay raise since King wants to save face amirite.

You also have to remember that we didn't really start spending money and investing in the program to contend for titled till after 2000 and Saban got here.
LSU was always handicapped by bullshite LA politics.

No troll attempt here but I didn't follow NCAA football until 2002... What was LSU football like before Saban and Miles?
They lost to South Carolina in the 90s...in Baton Rouge.
It was bad.

Well their one Heisman winner, Billy Cannon (circa 1959), is a convicted criminal. So, they got that going for them.

Since you asked, LSU was no. 12 nationally all-time in victories, and no. 10 in bowl apps. Before 2000.
We are now today almost even with Georgia for no. 11 in all time wins, and we are no. 8 in bowl apps.
The 1990s was the only sub .500 Decade (54-58) in LSU history, and even so, we did have 3 straight winning seasons and 3 bowl wins from 1995 thru 1998.
