Thanks all for all the kind words. He was a good kid and the team loved him. Was going to be an important glue guy on a team we all hope will do well. Amidst all the incoming talent Will Wade couldn’t stop gushing about Sims’ progress and offseason work.

One of the guys I used to work with knew him through basketball (he’s a big AAU/HS guy) and said a lot of really nice things about the kid today. Just incredibly sad. Sending his family, friends, and the LSU folks lots of love and light today.

Just awful for his family and gone way too young. Also looked like he was just backing his buddy up in some argument and someone decides to involve a gun.

I’m sure a community as strong and loyal as LSU’s will be able to help his family through such a difficult time and honor his memory

I’m so genuinely sorry to read this, LSU folks.
Not sure why anyone wants to talk about “neighborhoods,” while a young man is still lying in a morgue.
Those discussions will undoubtedly come later.
Just wanted to tell y’all how sad I am for the LSU family and for those who loved Wayde.
God bless.

I was at LSU when his dad Wayne was there. Great guy, the team loved him and called him "Papa Wayne" or some such, out of respect, and the fact that I believe he was the oldest one on the team. He was a hard working player which his son apparently picked up on. I just hate to see such hard working people get hurt like this. They deserve better.

Yeah he wasn't trying to get away. But he was defending himself. Guy on reddit was there and said it was 6 on 2. Sims got the upper hand on one of them and then they shot him.

What a shame for this kid, his family, and the whole SEC really, especially you LSU Bawz. Condolences, Bawz.
