Tailor it anyway you want, but program to program always accounts for overall history. No, Ohio to OU isn’t a step down.

OU will be fine no matter what happens here.

I would rather spend the money on oline and receiver anways.

You’re a moron. It is 100 percent a step down for Knowles as a job. Forget program to program for a second, if he’s looking to be a HC, leaving a championship caliber roster that just won a natty to go coach for a guy who could very well be fired Jan of 26 isn’t a lateral move for anyone’s career.

You’re a moron, to think OU won’t comeback from these down years.

Ou could come back and win five straight titles from 2027-31 and it won’t matter. If Brent has one year to turn it around it and then the next regime new dc and all will have a job and Knowles still canned. Downgrade

No one, it’s a point of contention as to why it’s not a lateral move. Job security is something everyone considers with a job change.

Even before the title game, rumors swirled that Oklahoma was pursuing Knowles. Knowles coached at Oklahoma State before Ohio State coach Ryan Day hired him in 2022 to revamp the Buckeyes' struggling defense.

Asked about his future immediately after the game, Knowles told The Dispatch, “I’m coaching at Ohio State.”

Knowles has been offered an extension at Ohio State that will make him the highest paid coordinator in the game.

I’m so confused. Why would he ever go to OU if his fiance allegedly wants to stay at OSU.

It is currently a step down even if historically they are equal programs.

We will know more after the decision is done

Apparently he met his fiance while coaching Okie St and one of her kids is going to an Oklahoma school, a lot of Oklahoma ties and he achieved a Natty at Ohio already

Because that's not his fiance. Probably his sister.

This is his fiance. She's a country girl who lives in Weatherford.

Was OU not happy with their defensive performances last year? I figured Venables actual needs a play caller on offense but hey, more power to ya

We don't need Knowles, as I said in another thread. His people reached out to us weeks ago, not the other way around.

We're fine on defense whether he comes or not.

So, OU is going to cough up 3 mil a year for something they don’t really need?

Of course.

It would free up Venables entirely with minimal/no risk, he expressed interest, and we have a job opening. Why wouldn't we?

Maybe use those funds for OL and/or other positions of need. The defensive side of the ball looks to be in good shape.
