The guy is in his 70’s. If I’m in the Ohio State loop, I thank the guy for what he’s achieved, which is pretty impressive, and wish him the best. He’s not going to coach forever. I think OSU was paying him over 2 mil. Good luck to Knowles
He’s 59

Don’t shoot the messenger, but there is a lot of smoke about day leaving

Oklahoma's defense was good bordering on great in 2024 but OU's record was due to an offense that couldn't start or finish against equal and better competition (sorry bama, no idea what happened to you last year).
For Knowles there is no where to go but down at Ohio State but at Oklahoma the bar will be much lower and it won't be like he has to rebuild, just reload.
It isn't that OU can pay more for his services but that OU is willing to pay more.
The gf angle is window dressing.

I can see Knowles coming back here for his final coaching gig and big payday and settle down with his fiancée. Her son is about to go to college around here as well.

Again, he wants to move back to Oklahoma. He’s no spring chicken
I know you swamp rats are uneducated morons that can barely read, but please take a look at the revenue of the respective athletic departments.
Then take a look at which program have the highest reported NIL budgets.
I despise Ohio state, but they have way, way more money than oU.
If oU wasn’t so broke, they would’ve canned Venables.
Lastly, who is going to leave the likely national champion for a sinking ship with a coach on the hot seat like oU.

Coach on the hot seat? BV won 10 games last year. Vince Lombardi wouldn't have coached this years team to many wins with all the injuries they had. BTW weren't Ohio St fans ready to fire Day after the latest Michigan loss?

If they win the title on Monday, everyone can leave.
I don’t know why he would make a downward move. And before you say his girl is in Oklahoma, he can 1) get a new smoke show in Ohio or 2) move the current one to Columbus.

Still a large number of their fans want him gone, but they want to see him win a title and then leave on his own. Which could happen but I doubt it

Wow, you okies are stupid. You’re denying that B.V. is on the hot seat? Again, wow.

If he wants to come back to Oklahoma, he's welcome in Stillwater.

He is on average about as stupid as 90% of OSUck fans.

I am guessing here but I suspect the death threats Knowles and the rest of the Ohio State staff received after the Michigan debacle didn't originate from fans in Norman.
No matter what happens Monday night he has topped out as far as what he can do in Columbus.
Unlike what went on under OU's previous coach, the current group values having a top notch defense (just in case anyone thinks a certain other program could lure him away) and given Oklahoma fans are hungry for success he would be greatly appreciated there.
Anyway, we'll see.

According to the interwebs, His fiance lives in Norman and is apparently refusing to move to Ohio.

If Ohio State wins the natty, Day leaves for the NFL?
Marcus Freeman
Dan Lanning
Luke Fickell or
Matt Campbell
To OSU?

According to insiders he’s said the best opportunity to achieve greatness isn’t by staying in Ohio, but rather moving to Norman. Says Brent Venables might be wound up like a research monkey but he’s good people and Ohio just too damn cold. He gone.
