Virginia baseball head coach Brian O’Connor has emerged as a frontrunner to be Mississippi State‘s next head coach, per D1Baseball‘s Kendall Rogers. O’Connor has been the head coach at Virginia since 2004.
In his 22 seasons at the helm, O’Connor has amassed a stunning 913-392-2 record. He’s led the Cavaliers to two regular season conference championships, two ACC Tournament titles and a College World Series championship in 2015, the program’s only national title.

Just get it done (I think it may already be done) but I am not celebrating until it’s officially official.

Baseball America reporting there’s talks he would bring Muscara (pitching coach from WF) with him.
I’m not celebrating until it’s announced by the school

Front runner is one thing. Ink on the line is a totally different thing.
Cohen absolutely burned us on the Lemonis hire after telling everyone that the hire would be someone with multiple CWS appearances.

Like I said in the rumor thread, baseball is the one sport State can punch above its weight class in. This is a good hire for State and the SEC.

The dude literally won your school the only national championship in the entire athletic program's history.
Cohen burned you?

It worked out, but he told us he was hiring Saban only to come away with DeBoer

You’re missing his point

That would be an awesome hire. Congrats if it happens.

Would be a badass hire if it happens. I had my doubts he would actually leave UVA but their AD is apparently a complete frick up

Good hire by State. Has to suck to be a Virginia fan. In 2 years you lose a top 5 basketball coach and a top 5 baseball coach and the football program is garbage.

With dominant players able to win dropped in his lap. Any SEC head coach could have won it with that team.
Zero difference in Lemonis winning it all and Orgeron at LSU.
When the championship team left the program collapsed. Hell.. him simply GTFO turned around this season and let us sneak into the post season playing good ball.

Anybody reading the Virginia websites to see what they're saying?

Ole Miss fans told me he would never even think about moving to Starkville.

Would be an excellent hire. Congrats if true.

That would be a good hire for State and likely make the SEC even tougher.

I think most people (OM fans included) are just surprised he's leaving UVA in general
