2. Event staff last night was telling early arriving ticket holders to "just go find an empty seat". Big issues with having to get squatters moved out of peoples seats they paid for throughout first inning.
Did you actually hear event staff saying this? Or are you just irritated that there's a segment of fans (in every fan base) who try to pull this?

3. People who appeared to be Texas students were worst offenders. They would just slide down a few seats until there was nowhere left to sit. Pull that shite with some southerners feeling the Jim Beam and there will be hands thrown. Won't be calling Event Staff.
Why is #2 and #3 separately itemized for us when it's the same issue?

1. SEC baseball and football coaches are gonna be pissed about playing on astroturf.
- just because some nfl players have decided to focus on this now that CTE is getting passé, doesn’t mean everyone gets to spit on AstroTurf every time they see it in any sport. Rejected, moving on.
2. Event staff last night was telling early arriving ticket holders to "just go find an empty seat". Big issues with having to get squatters moved out of peoples seats they paid for throughout first inning.
- you were essentially told to “make yourself at home” and you get pissed about it. Terrible guest behavior. Rejected, moving on.

- ok a few things here: 1) how do you know they weren’t in fact adjusting to their correct seats, perhaps after checking their ticket in response to some Yabo screaming into the sky about minor shifts in seat assignments; 2) Jim beam. No. Try a G&T so you’re not sweating bullets and writing manifestos about strangers halfway into the third inning; 3) this whole “try that in a small town” thing. Man, it’s a college baseball game, not the West Texas Fair & Rodeo. In sum, rejected. Moving on.
4. The energy in that place from start was about like a country club sunday lunch buffet. Not to mention the baseball facility is a shithole compared to SEC facilities.
- this one just challenges my reading comprehension. Above you were basically describing anarchy, and now it’s a relaxing Sunday at the yacht club? Make up your mind, you fickle mess. And finally, I’m gonna give you that one on the facility. Sacrifices needed to be made so we could have that huge longhorn-shaped hole in our end zone seating.

Baseball?
But as an Arkansas fan, or just an SEC baseball fan in general, you should know as well as anyone that losses suffered in February and early March are hardly reasons to push the panic button. We’re not even 20% of the way through a season of 60-70 games

The primary goal should be the field surface.
Just get natural grass.
It’s not like Austin is a place that has winter weather or other unusual challenges to growing grass.
What was the thought process behind the turf?

quote:For football: Texas has had pretty antiquated practice facilities, resulting in the need to often practice on the stadium’s field (which, as the case with most schools, is also shared with the band for their practice as well). As such, they’d prefer not to rip up the field on Sunday - Friday before the game on Saturday
What was the thought process behind the turf?
Texas announced a new practice facilities overhaul for the football program not long ago, so grass is coming in 2025 or 2026. It was always grass from 2008 and prior with the exception of a few years
Disch Falk has always been turf. Super hard Astro turf from 1975-2008 with dirt around bases/home and the mound, and field turf with dirt only around the mound from 2009-present. Why? Not exactly sure, but they don’t seem overly keen to change it. When it was astro turf it was definitely an advantage over opponents not used to that surface (particularly, high bounces)
I get why it bothers some purists, and I’ll be the first one to admit that it’s not winning a beauty pageant anytime soon, but it is what it is. They aren’t the only team that plays on turf and at this point I think the infields and catchers like the fact that it removes less bad hopes at the expense of moving faster after impact

Help me understand is this entire thread here because some Texas student sat in your seat like a big meanie and you were too much of a count to tell them to frick off out of your own seats? and you are warning us that other fan bases won't be pussies about that kind of thing?
have I got all of this right?

Yeah, was talking for baseball. So they just chose that route from the beginning. It’s odd to have turf for baseball unless you’re forced to. Just gets extra hot unnecessarily, imo.

"Have I got all of this right?"
I was raised by veterans who taught me that to take something you wanted from other people without asking or paying was very shameful.
You have a problem with that gfy!

I take it that you have never been to a sporting event ever... This happens everywhere. Grow a pair and tell them to move.

I was raised by veterans in a tiny arse Texas town with no stoplight, and I was taught that tolerating disrespect is inviting more disrespect. I was also taught by them to stand up for myself. It's really not hard to tell someone that they are in your seats and that they need to find somewhere else to sit. Their behavior was juvenile and disrespectful but the fix is simple and that's on you.
"you are in my seats please move, thanks!"
"Hey dickface get out of my fricking seat!"
YMMV

I prefer the second of your two quoted responses because
1) I'm a salty a-hole
2) I like the looks of surprise and horror in some cases on people's faces.

Dude i have no problems with taking up for myself. Just the entitled something for nothing attitude in Austin pisses me off.
