Why?
Thousands of Ags and other Texas natives trace back their roots in the area for many generations (my family included).
Once you get away from the university, it’s a great place to spend a weekend.
Austin is the capital of our state; over 2 million+ people in the metro area alone.
The horns don’t own the cap city any more than Trinity University, UTSA, and/or TAMUSA own San Antonio.
I’m glad for the OP that he came across a few good horn fans; collectively, they’re not known for their friendliness.

It really is funny, how many horns have no idea that the Texas A&M campus has greatly surpassed the dump in Austin in both beauty, architecture and modernization. They believe what they read on surly horns and have no idea of what reality is

Ole Miss hosted Texas and Texas A&M in the same year. Texas fans were by far the coolest of the two.
