So Duke and UNC?
They would never leave the ACC, but yeah something along those lines, although they would basically assure that pretty much nobody else besides UK would ever win in basketball again.
Ignoring political factors (some schools can't leave unless their rival does, things like that), teams i wouldn't mind joining if we HAD to expand would be teams like NC State (the perfect team IMO), virginia, va tech, lousville. I suppose if we ran out of options UCF would be fine since they dont' really pose much of a threat.

I like NC State and VT.
Don't think VT can leave now though due to political reasons and not sure how NC State is attached to the other NC schools.

Here is the real criteria...
We need to add more maroon teams and/or more teams with Tigers or Bulldogs as mascots.
Virginia Tech - Meets the maroon criteria within the geographic footprint
Clemson - Meets the Tigers criteria within the geographic footprint
Memphis - Meets the Tigers criteria within the geographic footprint
Louisiana Tech - Meets the Bulldog criteria within the geographic footprint.

If you have to bold you're doing it wrong WilliamTaylor21-0.
Nevertheless, Troy has proven they belong. Don't leave them out.

So does that mean we should add Troy and Memphis?
A watered down SEC is way worse than a tough SEC. Adding strength to the league only makes everyone stronger. Sure, it probably lessens the chances of the Mississippi States and South Carolinas of the league of ever winning the SEC Football Title. But a strong SEC only guarantees that the SEC Champ is in the playoff.... and it probably even increases the chances of a 2nd SEC team getting in.
The worst Expansion move of any conference to date is by far the BIG10 adding Rutgers. They watered down the league with that move and would have been much better off adding strength. Any team would have been stronger than Rutgers.

I dont know why anyone would want College football to be more like the NFL. The NFL sucks

neither are big enough names so no

bullshite, unless you are a school president or directly receive money from TV and bowl contracts, which I doubt you do. It's already hard as hell to navigate your way thorugh this league, then make the CCG, then win 2 more games in the playoff. Adding 2 more extremely difficult games against a blue blood only makes that harder. I mean that is basic common sense.

ummm...the SEC champ is alreayd in the playoff. Even before the playoffs when we only had 2 the SEC champ was even STILL more likely than not to make the title game.

based on the conference schedules the 2nd SEC team could have 2-3 losses. They aren't getting in over other conference champs.

Let's talk contraction. Go back to the original 10 teams.
The upside is all SEC teams would play each other annually.
****The downside is SECCG would go away.
Correction - the above statement no longer appears to be true.
The revenue generated from that game annually is in the top 3 for CFB. The SEC will not allow that to happen.
Ideally, 12 teams is the magic number.
Which two should be booted?

Memphis
I like Memphis, but I don't think they would fit in the SEC well. They are in the dead center of the SEC though.
Houston and UCF would probably be my G5 picks. Houston has potential to be a really good team in every sport. And UCF I believe is a huge school with solid athletics and academics.

no it wouldn't
Big 12 only has 10 teams and they have a championship game.

IF you're going to expand, I think it would need to be North Carolina and Virginia. Both traditionally southern states (Much moreso than Missouri and Arkansas).
They would also help with the academic profile of the conference, which we always need because we have the likes of the Mississippi schools in our conference.

Then I missed when the NCAA changed that rule.
The 12 team minimum was the entire reason USC and Arky were admitted into the SEC.
My bad.

Well, you wouldn't being going back to the original 10 teams since Sewanee, Tulane and Georgia Tech were also three of the founding members. Still, I like the idea of going back to 10 and kicking out the expansion newbs, especially the Big 12 leftovers.

Add UCF with the contingency that they must first change their colors to Maroon and White and change their mascot to Tigers or Bulldogs (or both, ala Auburn).

I would want Duke and North Carolina. We have enough football schools and those two basketball powerhouses would be very beneficial to raising the game in SEC basketball.
