There is obviously no timeline in place, but the next expansion will take us to 16 teams. So which two teams could be added to get us to 16?

Big 12:

- Oklahoma (since 2014, they have an average MOV (margin of victory) of 16.1 points. Multiple playoff appearances and multiple Heisman QBs)

- Oklahoma St. (since 2014, they have won 44 games.)

- West Virginia (a wildcard, but since 2013, they have also won 44 games)

- Texas (not sure that Jr. would want this, but they are obviously a big player)

ACC:
- Clemson (an obvious choice for an obvious reason)

- North Carolina (good basketball team, championship in 2017, runner up in 2016, last bowl game in 2016)

- Virginia Tech (Justin Fuente hired in 2016, typically a competitive team in all sports.)

Any other wildcards you think have a chance? One of the G5 teams? Houston? Cincinnati?

Let's talk contraction. Go back to the original 10 teams.

I've gotta say this one took some effort if those stats are true.

I believe with cord-cutting, the geographical footprint is becoming less important. Expanding the footprint is a bonus sure, but its becoming less and less so.

I subscribe to Hulu Live specifically because its way cheaper than traditional cable, and because it offers me SEC Network and most any game aired on the ESPN family of Networks. I'd subscribe to the same service whether I lived in Birmingham or Seattle.

So with fewer people everyday subscribing to cable, the geographical footprint becomes less important, and the overall ability of a program to drive interest becomes more of a factor.

So for this fact, I'd rank the candidates like this:

1. Texas
2. Oklahoma
3. Clemson
4. Florida State
5. Virginia Tech
6. North Carolina
7. Oklahoma State
8. Virginia

I'd be fine adding Texas and Oklahoma.... or I'd be fine with adding either Texas/Oklahoma plus Clemson to balance it out East/West.

I’m not advocating for expansion, if it were up to me I would remove the 13th and 14th teams. But eventually it will probably happen, so who would you want?

not sure why any fan of their team's success would go for this. The whole point is for your team to win as many games as they can and make the playoffs and play for a title. Adding 2 blue bloods to what is alrady the hardest conference is simply lunacy. Can you imagine a year where uga had to play AU/bama/OU/UF/UT just in conferece? It's a death wish.

Nevermind the fact we are the "southeastern" conference, which never texas/ou are. Yes I know we have missouri but that was one mistake. If the day comes we expand I would at least hope it's teams that don't make things more difficult and teams that are somewhat southeastern.

Personally I'd like to see us go back to 10 teams like it was about 29 years ago. Right now it takes too long to cycle through the teams.

It feels like the past 21 years we have played 0 times @South Carolina, and I have 0 interest in having teams outside the Southeast in the conference. Unfortunately there's seemingly 0 chance of contraction happening.

VT and WVU. Both are solid in all sports. Brings an instant rivalry and both programs have SEC like fans.

4 Pods, 2 in the east and 2 in the west, the other pod in your division is your adjacent pod.

You play the 3 other teams in your pod, your 2 permanent rivals, 2 rotating teams from your adjacent pod (these 2 games are rotating through 3 teams because the 4th is one of your permanent rivals) and 1 rotating team from each of the other 2 pods left. 9 conference games and the 2 teams with the best conference record meet in the title game. Tiebreakers are based on head to head, if teams didn't play it's highest ranked.

East Pods

UT- Permanent rival games with Florida and Bama
SC- Permanent rival games with UGA and A&M
Vandy- Permanent rival games with Kentucky and Ole Miss
WVU- Permanent rival games with VT and Mizzou

VT- Permanent rival games with WVU and Arkansas
Kentucky- Permanent rival games with Vandy and Miss State
UGA- Permanent rival games with SC and Auburn
Florida- Permanent rival games with UT and LSU

West Pods

Mizzou- Permanent rivals with WVU and Arkansas
Ole Miss- Permanent rivals with Miss State and Vandy
Bama- Permanent rivals with Auburn and UT
A&M- Permanent rivals with LSU and SC

Arky- Permanent rivals with Mizzou and VT
Miss State- Permanent rivals with Ole Miss and Kentucky
Auburn- Permanent rivals with Bama and UGA
LSU- Permanent rivals with A&M and Florida
