Absolutely. And if they stay the entire 4 years they throw in a large fry.

ETA
Saw a joke today that Pruitt sent his assistants to McDonalds every day and ask for extra bags with their orders.

I think we can all concede that every team in the conference (and maybe all of college football) probably cheats to some degree. Some are better at it than others, and some go really big.

I don't agree with this statement, and I think it's harmful to simply accept that it is true.

It's along the same line of thinking "we can make heroin illegal, but people are going to use it anyway, so let's just make it legal".

during Richt's tenure, the only two scandals to ever come out were Gurley getting doxxed by a Florida fan who bought some autographs from him, and then AJ Green who sold his own jersey on Ebay, but the guy who happened to buy it was a runner. No other credible allegations ever came out, in a 15 year career, at a program that tried to hamstring itself at every turn.

And under Kirby's tenure, I've seen zero credible accusations of any wrong doing of cashing out players. You have 1 single notorious douche who is quoting an anon source that 'maybe" Kirby is involved in the McDonalds bag bullshite. It's all horseshite.

Although I do agree this sort of things happen from time to time, I do not agree it is as widespread or as severe as many jibber-jabbering idiots make it appear to be. It's mostly just butthurt.

Nick Saban doesn't need a booster to land a 5* linebacker. He's Nick fricking Saban. Same with Kirby and other coaches and programs. The red flags are when a nobody like Hugh Freeze shows up to a Nobody University like Ole Miss and goes from #50 in recruiting to #5 in recruiting in 8 months.

These recruits get stipends and pell grants now, they are all getting cash these days, legally. They cash those checks then tweet out the fanned out money in their hands, then all the fans of rival schools say 'Look! Bag Man visited !" but it's all bullshite.

Fair enough, although I would draw a distinction between routine "cheating" and scandals, i.e., not getting caught doesn't mean you aren't doing it.

I've had this discussion before, and I think you're right on with that. An argument could be made that successful programs may actually cheat less, especially after a period of time, as it becomes a self-fulling cycle rather than having to constantly attract new talent. I think you're correct that it probably happens worse when programs are down or are trying to establish themselves (although this is just a guess).

Any form of cheating that brings into question black establishments is absolutely never going to be investigated.

This goes for votin’ AND crootin’.

A Bama fan thread about cheating? We need the Websters entry for "candor" to link to this thread.

I went off on a rant about players there part way through, but I guess the initial question was also if everyone is doing something (even small), is there a gentleman's agreement line where it's seen as okay, but beyond that it becomes a problem?

As in, that team just did "this," which is way too far, they should be investigated.

If so, where is that line, I wonder?

When I said earlier that everybody cheats or bends the rules, I certainly don't think it is as big as most think. Like the stuff with Dodge Chargers and croots is just dumbass talk.

Look, the first thing an 18 or 19yo E-0 out of basic training does is get married to the first person that will touch their private parts and signs a loan for a Dodge Charger or F-150 on a 10yr term w/ high interest.

Is it any surprise that the first thing an 18 or 19yo full scholarship recipient who gets some money - from their parents each month or a pell grant each semester - goes and does the same damn thing?

Tennessee and LSU may be the answer to the trivia question: Who was the last SEC teams to get smacked down before the image likeness takes hold.

The state of Florida is going to demand that the NZAA defines the portion of players that get extra benefits. Before state law takes effect this summer.

After that, our favorite team is going to have to make sure we don't get outbid for our next generation of 4 and 5-star athlete. Without a doubt, with all the money getting passed OVER the table, we are going to have to reinvent the wheel in nefarious acts of cheating.

If Alabama was as blatantly fricking up as Tennessee, Alabama would have 5 fewer national titles right now and probably on their third coach since Saban.

bama just gets away with it......for some reason. You have had many players post pics with wads of cash after signing. You had Tom Albetar posting pics of players signing mounds of jerseys............for free. You have players driving the same make/model of vehicles. bama cheats with the best of them. You have for a long long time. It is what it is.

ETA My uncle was Snake's best friend growing up. My Mom and Uncle grew up two doors down from Snake. It was going on then and it hasn't slowed up.
