yeah that’s it - OR - anyone who thinks that Alabama “just somehow gets away with it” when everyone in the region wants to catch them badly is a rustic dumbass.

True. bama gets 5* after 4*, a lot who will sit on the bench......just for the sake of being able to say they went to bama.
ETA didn't Peaches step-son show up at HS, just a few days after NSD, with a brand new car that quickly disappeared? This was after a booster took him from bama's campus to Pensacola Beach for the three days leading up to NSD. bama spent an afternoon investigating it and found no wrongdoing.

Do away with athletic scholarships altogether. Everyone applies to the school they want to attend and they get in on academic merit. From that point, they can try out for whatever sports team they wish to play on. Anyone who doesn't want to do this, or can't make the grades can find other ways to play the sport they desire.

I would surprised if there does not exist several overlapping unofficial conventions, treaties and rules govern the subtler aspects of recruiting.
I doubt there's a shadow-guild body, but I do believe bagmen and auxiliary recruiting apparatuses tend to operate within a mostly understood norms. These norms would logically have evolved to protect bagmen legally, and perpetuate bagmen as an integral part of college football.
At some point, universities influencing the rules may decide it's in their better interests to back off players' financial affairs. At that point, bagmen could stop living in the shadows and start getting some recognition as part of the system they've help build for decades. I don't know if most bagmen currently want that or not.

I think Bama, among others go really big and have been since Saban took over but are just really good at it and take a very systemic and organized approach when doing it. It shouldn’t come as a shock that coaches like Saban who run a well oiled machine on the field Also run a well oiled machine for recruiting top talent as well. On the flip side we shouldn’t be surprised when known dumbasses like Pruitt get caught giving away cash to recruits in McDonald’s bags.

These folks are just Q-Anon for sports. With all sort of cockamamie bullshite that clearly has no substance because again: every fricking school in the SEC would love to take out the top dog if they caught them slipping.
Somehow all these internet detectives have caught them slipping but they never get busted. So I guess it is because reptile aliens are running the NCAA or some other dumbass excuse for why their “reality” is not materializing in actual reality.
