UGA and Auburn have now played 122 games. This ties the Virginia - North Carolina rivalry. Let's take their name and tell them to go frick themselves.

Gonna be 124 to 123 soon.

I don’t think ‘oldest’ means longest running. If they started their rivalry earlier, then it is still older

Technically correct, but we have to read the "rivalry" part in terms of practical application lest we get a pair of teams that have only played a few games against each other. Nobody wants a stat where two teams played once in 1887, once in 1953, once in/ 1971 and then again last year and trying to claim it's the South's oldest rivalry.

Honestly, I'm of the opinion that Virginia hasn't a respectable part of the South since Reconstruction anyway, so I'm more than happy to say the AU/UGA rivalry is the sole legitimate contender for the title of the South's oldest rivalry

These two institutions obviously don’t care about the welfare of their student athletes, expecting them to play a game in February.

Tsk tsk.

You can change the name to kick off Auburn's move to the East. "Still the Deep South's Oldest Rivalry". Get some eyeballs looking Aubie's way.

Technically oldest has nothing to do with number of games

Only "continual" rivalries are important ... as in uninterrupted.

I do love the history of the UGA-Auburb rivalry though. It's one of my favorites.

That sounds like a good name for all of LSU's rivalries. Except Troy. The rivalry with Troy deserves a good name.

Live here, can verify. They get mad if you tell them that, though.
