And yet 2010 > 1980.

If push comes to shove, we could always just pay around 200k for one the way Auburn did.
Nah. We don't need to. Their best recruit would have finished rated #10 in our class.

That would make your current commits 10 last time y'all won it.
Kirby was 5 the last time UGA won a national championship. Congrats on the class, but history tells us UGA will find ways to keep from winning it all.
BTW, you guys should accept the fact that you lost the national championship. It really did happen.

finished with the 6th ranked class in his final year. That's a great finish.
Are you trying to prove my point? 6th with 30 guys at an average of 89.7 to be exact, which is not close To the class we just pulled in.

That's still a championship level talent class.
And wait... you're actually thinking you're going to pull a class like this for multiple years ? With Florida going through a coaching change..

big problem for UGA now is Tennesse and Florida brought in competent coaches.
Do you really expect those programs to become powers? Their fans don't even think that.

It's about finding the right coaches at a program capable of competing (passionate fan base + fertile recruiting territory)... Bama/Ohio State/Clemson/Oklahoma have been those programs recently, but that can change.
UGA seems to be joining that crowd of reloading every year for a national title hunt. There are about 15-20 programs in the country capable of being in the final four consistently if they find the next Saban or Meyer.

We probably won’t have one of the top 3 classes in history every year. But 2017 wasn’t too bad either considering it’s better than any sec team not named Bama has had in a while.

History also tells us Auburn won't win another one for 52 more years. Is that the way things work? Go back and cite history? 60 years in between titles for Auburn and you won your last one in 2010. Auburn is due in 2070. You won't be alive to see your next one. History tells us that.

Maybe. But we certainly have more talent on or headed to campus than ever before. We, under Richt would get 1 or 2 5 stars at most not 7 or even 3 like last year. Can’t hurt.

Depends.
Teams are made up of 4 classes. The other classes need to be very strong, well coached, well developed, and well managed. They weren't with Richt, so we sent him to Miami.
Then we won a championship in 2017 and also a playoff game with the new coach. The 2015 class played a big role in that, so yea, it was championship caliber. How would you describe a much better class like the 2018 class? Super duper championship level talent?

I don't think I said anything about future classes. What about the 2017,2018, and 2019 classes leads you to believe uga is gonna Dropoff with recruiting?

3 other SEC teams have won National Championships during Saban's tenure at Alabama, and 3 others played in the championship game with 2 of those 3 only losing because Bama/Saban was their opponent. I'll take that as down years for a conference
that doesn't tell you anything about depth in the conference in any given season.
A SEC team winning a natty isn't the SEC winning a natty. It is a team sport, not a conference sport.

Must be proud

They went through a coaching after Muschamp...how'd that work out in recruiting?
Fact is UGA probably has the best recruiting situation in the country,We have almost double the amount of D1 prospects compared to a talent rich state like Louisiana with minimal instate competition and a metro area that's only behind Miami and Houston when it comes to producing P5 talent.
SO yea top 5 recruiting annually should be the rule and not the exception.Deep down most Aubbies know this...hence the reason for the continuous melt.

Most have accepted, but most auburn fans, UFLmatt, and straws seem to be the final holdouts on accepting the new reality.

In fairness, over the last 4 years the average 5 losses.
The narrative might have to be changed to Gus averages 5 losses a year, soon. Thank goodness for 2013. That saved his average.
